WILLIAM JAMES WALKER
1952 - 2020
In Loving Memory

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of William (Bill) James Walker on Easter Sunday, April 12, 2020, at the age of 68, at St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg.
Predeceased by his father, Jim, left to mourn Bill is his wife and best friend of 22 years, Doris; his loving mother, Gerry; son, Jeff (Kim); daughter, Sarah Craine (Mat); sister, Sandra Fogg (Doug); stepdaughter, Misty Fraser; stepsons, Steven Power (Jen) and Kevin Power (Crystal); granddaughter, Olivia James Craine whom he adored; along with stepgrandchildren, Christine, Bailee, Rebecca, Alicia, Justin, Jordan and Julianna; and stepgreat-granddaughters, Sophia, Adalynn and Scarlett.
Bill was born and raised in Winnipeg, where much of his teenage years were spent at band practice, which later formed into the band "We Three". As Bill would say, being a responsible adult, he gave up the band for a "real" job. Bill spent most of his career as the Credit Manager for B.A. Robinson, where he retired after 25 years of service. Bill never lost his passion for music, and loved singing and playing guitar whenever the family would be gathered together.
Following in his dad's footsteps, Bill was known as one of the "fix it guys" for many who loved him, including his family, friends and neighbours. Bill's other passions included golfing and camping, where he could enjoy the solitude of nature.
The family wishes to thank the staff at St. Boniface Hospital, especially the team in the ICU, for their kindness, compassion and caring during this most difficult time.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Bill's honour at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, if you so wish, a donation may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.

  • I am so very sorry for the loss of Bill. It was 40+ years ago I came to know this wonderful family. I asked Sandy, what music was coming up from the basement. "Bill, playing his guitar." Anne and Sarah entered my life a little later on. Bill was an avid golfer for many years. I will never forget the memories of Bill playing his guitar. - Posted by: Roberta (Bobbie) Porteous (Family friend) on: Apr 18, 2020

  • Bill and Doris have been our neighbours for over twenty years and they exemplify every positive quality that one could hope for in someone in that role. We could say that we enjoyed countless conversations over the backyard fence, but neither party ever saw the need to erect one. We were the beneficiaries of having an unobstructed view of their meticulously maintained property. Bill was a caring, concerned and always helpful friend who was generous with his time and incredible resourcefulness as an all-round handyman. He was also a great conversationalist and raconteur whose shared wit extended the duration of yard work in a most pleasurable way. We already miss him immensely and extend our deepest condolences to Doris and all of Bill's family for their tragic, unexpected loss. You are in our thoughts and prayers.
