JOSEPH EMOND
1953 - 2020

It is with sadness our family announces that Joseph passed away on Monday, April 27, 2020, with a wonderful, caring nurse by his side, at Riverview Health Centre, Palliative Care 3 East, after a courageous nine month battle with cancer.
He leaves behind his son, Jose; and three grandchildren, Colten, Austin and Emily; as well as Destiny, Jazlynn and Jacob; his loving mother, Leonie Emond Damphousse; brothers, Leo (Anne), Denis (Michelle); sisters, Colette (Roland) and Lucille (Mel); and sister-in-law, Bonnie. He was predeceased by his father, Noel; brother, Robert; and brother-in-law, Bill Merritt.
Joe was his mother's best friend, and helped care for her until he was unable to continue. He loved caring for his plants, singing, and playing his guitar anytime of the day or night. He also loved sports, especially the Winnipeg Jets.
The family would like to send a special thank you to Dr. Dinn, and to Dr. T. St. Goddard, social worker, Salina Dookheran and all the staff at the Riverview Health Centre, Palliative Care 3 East.
In keeping with Joe's wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of his life will be held at a later date due to the Covid-19 virus.

  • Although we lived provinces apart Joe and I always kept in touch one way or another. He had a good sense of humour. The last time I saw him was at our mother’s funeral which he drove all the way from Winnipeg to St. Albert with his mom so his mom could see her sister one last time.
