VIOLA (VI) F. BEST
(MUNT)
1918 -2020
Mom was born on November 18, 1918, in Biggar, SK, and as she let everyone know, "New York is big but this is Biggar." Mom spent a very happy youth in Biggar, SK, and then moved to Brandon, MB, to attend Brandon college, graduating with a B.A. in 1939. Mom moved to Winnipeg in 1939, she then attended Angus Business School, was employed by Pioneer Grain and married the love of her life, Herbie, in 1941.
During the war she lived in both Halifax, NS and Victoria, BC, while dad served in the Navy, moving back to Winnipeg in 1944. She and dad settled in Crescentwood in 1951 and remained there for over 60 years. Mom was a stay at home Mom, raising her children while being active in community affairs. She was most proud that in her late 80s she and three friends took a cruise to Alaska and experienced her first flight in a helicopter.
Mom was predeceased by her parents, Bill and May Munt; her beloved husband Herb and grandson Shaun. She is lovingly remembered by her daughter Susan (Steve), son Rick (Shirley), grandson Mike (Jennifer), Shaun's partner Denise, and her favourites of all, the great-grandchildren, Matthew, Abby, and Ella, as well as sisters, Gwen and Willa.
Mom lived in the Brightwater for the past two years and experienced wonderful care and compassion from all the staff that cared for her. We thank them with all of our hearts.
In keeping with Vi's wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family burial will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations in memory of Vi may be made to a charity of one's choice.

To Vi Best's family we extend our most sincere and heartfelt sympathy. Vi was the best friend of our Mother Joyce (Joy) for many, many years when they lived on Lorette Ave. Joy was one of the companions who traveled to Alaska with Vi. She too so enjoyed the trip. Vi was a kind, gentle, caring soul who touched many lives. She was a "true" lady in every sense of the word. We like to think that they are reminiscing now about days gone by, about their families and, last but not least that they have already formed a Bridge Club together. Please cherish and treasure your memories of her. She will be missed. With Love and understanding, Rod, Marg, Liam & Kevin MacCharles - Posted by: Rod & Rod MacCharles (Friends) on: May 16, 2020
