CORINNE ESKOW
August 2, 1928 - May 27, 2020

It is with profound sadness that we announce mom's passing at the Simkin Centre, with her children at her side.
Corinne is survived by her son Joel (Rochelle), daughter Maureen, and her brother Harold of Collingwood, Ontario.
She was predeceased by her husband Charles (Chuck) in 1989, and her parents, Joseph and Yetta Zukerman.
Mom was born in Winnipeg and spent part of her childhood at the family farm in Eyre, Saskatchewan. As a result of the 1930s Dust Bowl her family moved back to Winnipeg. In her teens she worked at Oretsky's and the Starland Theatre. She married dad in 1950 and they moved into her mother's boarding house on Bannerman for six years. She was the bookkeeper for the family business, Chuck's Trailer Parts and Van Accessories from 1972-1989. In her retirement she volunteered at Gwen Secter.
In 1956 the family moved to their brand new family home in Garden City, where she lived until her mid-eighties, when she needed to be placed in personal care.
Mom was a consummate host, cook and baker. She knit beautiful Mary Maxim sweaters for her family. She camped and fished with her family. Her home was always a welcoming place for friends representing the diversity of the north end. She loved her family unconditionally and was very close to her children.
Thanks to those caring individuals from home care, Tuxedo Villa and Simkin Centre who treated mom with love, dignity and respect. Also a special mention to Lindsay Lanteigne, Tuxedo Villa and Alanna Kull, Simkin Centre for providing exemplary care for our mom and support to Maureen.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a private graveside service was held on May 28 at Hebrew Sick Cemetery, officiated by Rabbi Kliel Rose.
Gratitude to pallbearers, Aviva Tabac, Avrom Charach, Bruce Granove, Ken Segal, Marvin Silver and Hart Poskar.
Donations in mom's memory may be made to The Children's Hospital or The Simkin Centre.

May our mom's memory be a
blessing to all who new her.

Mom we love you with all
our hearts and miss you.

  • My deepest sympathy to all your family on the loss of your beloved mother and grandmother. She was known by me as the name of Corky, and was a friend of my sister Faye and another good friend of theirs, Ronnie (Z"L"). I remember her mother and brother also. May her memory be for a blessing. Sadly, Esther (Garfinkel) Weinstein, now of Vancouver. - Posted by: esther weinstein (friend) on: Jun 13, 2020
