JOHN EDWARD (ED) SLOMINSKY
October 23, 1942 - June 21, 2020

It is with heavy hearts that we say farewell to John Edward Slominsky (Ed). On Sunday June 21, 2020, at the age of 77, Ed passed away comfortably at home after a long, courageous battle with cancer.
He is survived by his loving wife Marlene; sons, Rick and Greg (Sandra); daughter Robyn; beloved grandchildren, Jordyn, Riley (Alissa), Taryn and Dallan; great-grandchildren, Cooper, Charlie and Lewis who he loved and was immensely proud of. As well as brothers, Ted and Peter; sisters, Phyllis, and Karen (predeceased), along with numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
In keeping with Ed's wishes, cremation has taken place and no public service is scheduled.
Ed's family kindly requests that all of his friends and relatives take some time to honour his memory by joining us at an informal Celebration of Life gathering which will take place on Tuesday, July 14, 2020, between the hours of 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. RSVPs to robynsnest2019@gmail.com appreciated if you can join us.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Stephen Coyle as well as the staff at Cancer Care Manitoba.
In lieu of flowers, please direct donations to Juvenile Diabetes, CancerCare Manitoba or a charity close to your heart.

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • Sorry to hear about Ed. Caroline - Posted by: Caroline (Former co-worker of Marlene's) on: Sep 11, 2020

  • To Marlene and family. Dennis and I were saddened to read of Ed's passing. We remember all the good times we shared through our mutual friendship with John and Shirley when he visited at Wendigo and in Winnipeg. We remember sitting on the Conners deck at Wendigo and fondly exchanging fish stories. We loved listening to Ed and John tell us all about the fish they caught and of course always about the ones that got away. We shared so many good times with Ed at Wendigo and in Winnipeg. We learned so many new and different card games and enjoyed playing them with the Smolinskys and Conners but we were never as good at them as Ed. We will miss seeing him in our travels around and about St. James. Wishing you, peace and love at this sad time. - Posted by: Dennis and Edna Lee (Friends) on: Jun 30, 2020
