ARTHUR (ART) HEIDINGER
Art is survived by his daughter Melanie Bilenky and two granddaughters, Kendall and Chloe; sister Lena Masi, brother Hugo (Lydia) Heidinger, as well as countless in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Art was predeceased by his parents, Hugo and Elisabeth Heidinger, and wife Betty Heidinger.
Art was an early traveller coming from Germany to Canada to be born on June 23, 1950 in Steinbach, Manitoba, moving to Winnipeg shortly after. Art grew up as a rebel teen in the North End brought up on strict European values. He was a hard worker stepping in to help support the family as a teen but yet finding time to party hard and get into mischief with his friends. It was at a country dance he met Betty - it was love at first sight and they were married June 6, 1970, followed by the birth of their one and only daughter, Melanie, in 1976. Art was employed as a painter for the Misericordia Hospital for over 40 years, finally retiring in 2008. He was proud of his trade, often giving others advice, yet most times just taking over to do it himself.
Art lived for his family and friends and would never miss an opportunity to enjoy time with the ones he loved. He was a larger than life personality with a heart of gold. Art was an unforgettable man that made a lasting impression on everyone that he met. That giant grin, contagious laugh and sarcastic humour will live on in everyone's minds forever.
A private funeral service will be held on Sunday, July 19, 2020, at 4:00 p.m. Live streaming to view the service will be available through the Cropo Funeral Home website.

My condolences to the family. Art will be missed. He loved chatting and catching up with all the news. I can hear him laughing after we chatted about something. If it was serious he always added something to make it funny. His laugh was contagious. Rest In Peace Art - Posted by: Gloria. Nagy (Misericordia Healrth Care Center Friend) on: Jul 06, 2020
