Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDOREEN RAMM
It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Doreen Ramm on August 30, 2020. Mom was born on May 21, 1928, to Syd and Gertrude Rowntree. Her siblings were Hilda (Eddie) McLaughlin, Faye (Chuck) Andrews, Florence (Ed) Bodman and Art (Marge) Rowntree.
Doreen married Walter Ramm 74 years ago on June 1, 1946. They grew up across the street from each other in Elmwood and were always together. One day we asked Mom how she married Dad. Mom said, I chased your father around the church until he was too tired to say no and dragged him in and married him. That story tells you how funny and quick-witted and special a person she was.
Mom will be deeply missed by her children, Linda (Dennis) Ducharme, Sid (Mea) Ramm, Gilbert (Florence) Ramm, Paul (Raymonde) Ramm, Nancy Peters (Brad Lamothe), Dave Peters, and Albert (Dianne) Ramm; as well as 13 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and lots of extended relations.
Mom was a fantastic cook and she loved to host large family dinners in their small house. Mom provided us a wealth of suppers filled with an abundance of love to fill our hearts and souls. None of us ever went hungry or unloved.
Mom had an amazing spirit and zest for life and people. A couple of times we thought we might lose her, but she was determined and fought hard through every struggle. She loved to babysit all the grandchildren and all of them spent a lot of time at the house and the lake. She volunteered for non-profit organizations and helped at the local community centre canteen.
Mom absolutely loved West Hawk Lake. Lots of gazebo time and many long walks with Dad down every back road and through the camp sites were had. They spent over 60 years enjoying quiet time sitting on the benches eating ice cream, staring out over the lake and enjoying each other's company and nature itself.
Our trailer and cabana wasn't very large but she welcomed all our friends and family to stay. Once again, she would feed and water them and make them feel at home and made sure they enjoyed themselves.
Mom was a curious person. Okay just plain old nosy. She loved company and visiting her family and friends, and was always interested in how they and their families were doing.
She had the kindest heart and a fabulous sense of humour. She always said, everyone is taking such good care of me, I can't complain or ask for anything and she NEVER did. We thank all the staff at The Waverley, Middlechurch Personal Care Home, EMS and the doctors and nursing staff at Seven Oaks Urgent Care. Everyone was extremely kind to our mom and we thank all of you for your compassion and professionalism. I'm sure all of you learned a couple of new phrases that you will use in the future such as "I'm still kicking", "this getting old is for the birds", etc..".
We were blessed to have the best mom of all for 92 great years. She was selfless and put everyone ahead of herself. We know she is at peace and in good hands now. Sid, Paul and Kathryn were there in heaven to greet her and take her to her new home. She can now visit with the rest of her family and friends so they can once again enjoy her wonderful company.
In keeping with Mom's wishes, there will be no service.
In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations in Mom's memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
