IAN ERNEST COOTE
He was predeceased by his dad Jack Coote, his uncle Bob McDonald and his aunt Sylvia McHugh. Ian is survived by his wife Jeannette, his son Danton, his mother Sharon and his sister Colleen (Garth). Ian is also survived by his niece and nephews as well as three grandnieces.
Ian was born in Pine Falls, Manitoba to Jack and Sharon Coote on March 31, 1965. He grew up in Pine Falls where he made many lifelong friends. He loved the outdoors even as a kid, going hunting and fishing with his dad and grandfathers. Ian was a man best known for his quick wit and good humour. He was an outdoorsman through and through, enjoying hunting and fishing trips with his family and friends as well as quading and snowmobiling. Ian was a knowledgeable person with many talents and skills but most importantly he always tried to be a good man.
Ian worked in The Pas with Repap for 10 years in Human Resources and then worked for Louisiana Pacific in Swan River for another 24 years. He was a hard worker and liked a challenge in his job. Thus, he went from human resources to plant manager to mill manager to corporate maintenance manager of Louisiana Mills in the U.S., Canada and South America. Along the way he made many good friends.
To his friends and family, Ian would want a toast to happy memories and to a life well lived. He will be missed by all.
A private service will be held at one of his favourite areas in the Duck Mountains, date still to be determined.
If friends so desire, memorial donations can be made in Ian's honour to CancerCare Manitoba. Make a donation to

Cootie was my University room mate. He loved intramural hockey, kicking butt at Euchre and knowing what song was playing at Clancy’s. Spent a memorable weekend in Pine Falls with his friends and family. RIP Ian. - Posted by: James Lye (Friend) on: Feb 18, 2021

May Ian rest In Peace. I only know photos of him, but I always heard about the wonderful nature Jeanette and her family lives in. I am sorry. Sabine Curtius (Frankfurt/ Germany) - Posted by: Sabine (2nd Cousin to Jeanette ) on: Oct 21, 2020

Loved that guy! He was the first guy to greet me on my first day at university residence and we quickly became lifelong friends. He was a great man that would give you the shirt off his back and he will be truly missed. Rest In Peace brother. Xoxo - Posted by: Gord Kostick (Friend) on: Sep 26, 2020

I was shocked and deeply saddened to hear of Ian’s passing. Although far too short, Ian had a very accomplished and successful life. I like to think Ian is now with his Dad Jack and Grandfather Ernie enjoying the outdoor life they all enjoyed. God Bless and keep you Ian.
