BOLES: Alberta (Jennette). It is with great sadness that we the family announce the passing of Alberta Jennette Boles on January 14, 2009 at the Assiniboine Centre at the age of 80. Alberta was predeceased by Ernest, her husband of 31 years, in October of 1979. Also her parents Albert and Netta Willey; brothers Charlie, Vernon, Roy and Carmen (as a child); sisters-in-law Wilma and Mary Willey, Jean Boles; in-laws George and Ethel Boles; special friend Sandy Patton and daughter-in-law, Mary. Alberta was born in Birnie and moved to Douglas when she was a teenager where she worked at the General Store. She married Ernest Boles on May 25th, 1948 and they raised their 6 children, Gordon, Murray, Rick, Brian, Leona and Arnold on their family farm near Douglas. Mom was never happier than having her family around, taking great pleasure in family gatherings especially enjoying the grandchildren and great grandchildren. Pets were always a part of her family, her own or those of family and neighbours. This past summer Mom celebrated her 80th Birthday with family members and friends. Mom was very active in the Douglas community and was a founding and life member of the Douglas Women's Institute serving in all capacities, including President many times. Alberta was a long time member of the Douglas United Church, singing in the choir prior to her marriage to Ernie. Alberta dedicated many years to work at Fairview Home where she met her special friend Sandy. They enjoyed attending dances and the Brandon Wheat King games. She also belonged to the Red Hats, Club 77 Singles Group, attended the dances at the Central Community Club and was a regular at the Maple Leaf Dances at the Legion. Left to cherish her memory her family: son Gordon (Shaun) Andrew and Ian (Breanne Lillico); son Murray (Heather) Jeff (Cherill), Eric (Becky Jacks) Gabriel and Makenna, Carla (Brady Davis); son Rick (Donna) Lisa (Shawn Clark) Austin and Owen, Michael; son Brian (Rosaleen) Chandra (Paul Rossnagel), Heather, Elexa and Electra; daughter Leona Simoes (Rick Paley) Amy, Aaron, Joey and Emily; son Arnold (Kim) Ashley and Brittany; sister Gertie (Tommy) Rhodes; brother-in -law Al Boles of Ottawa; many nieces, nephews, cousins and a large number of friends and neighbours that were her extended family. Viewing will be held at the Brockie Donovan Funeral Home, 332-8th Street, on Monday, January 19, 2009 from 7:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held at the Central United Church, 327-8th Street, on Tuesday, January 20, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Barb Jardine officiating. Interment will follow at the Brandon Cemetery. Alberta loved flowers, but if friends desire, memorial donations may be made to the Brandon Regional Health Centre Foundation, “Western Manitoba Cancer Care Project,” 150 McTavish Avenue East, Brandon, Manitoba, R7A 2B3.
