FEHR: "Dick" Diedrich Fehr passed away with his family by his side at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on January 13, 2009 at the age of 65. Dick was born August 3, 1943 in Winkler, to David and Mary. He was the fourth of seven children. Dick spent his childhood in the Winkler area before his work took him to Ontario and then to Moosomin, Saskatchewan where by fate, he began working for the father of his future wife, Sandra. Dick and Sandra were married on December 28, 1968 and shortly after, moved to Winnipeg to begin their life together. A few years later, they came to the Brandon areawhere in 1976, they gave birth to their first child, Tanis. In 1977, they moved to Wheatlands where in 1982, Chantal was born. They stayed in Wheatlands until 1985 when they moved to the Brandon area, which is where they've since resided. Throughout his life, Dick worked as a welder,mechanic, garage owner, land surveyor, truck driver, land clearer, fuel pump repair service and at the Ford automotive plant. Dick's fascination with how things operated made him very knowledgeable. Family, friends and neighbours always called on Dick for advice or a helping hand when something was broken and he was always willing to help. He was dedicated to his family. He could usually be found tinkering in his shed or having coffee and playing cards with friends and family, as everyone knew that his door was always open. OnDecember 28, 2008, Dick and Sandra, along with family and friends, celebrated 40 years of marriage. Dick is missed by his wife Sandra; daughters Tanis Fehr and Chantal (Joe) Russell. Also left mourn him are the loves of his life, his grandchildren: Raelee Fehr and Connor Russell. Surviving Dick are his siblings: Marie Doerksen of Toronto, Anne Johnson of Brandon, Don Fehr of Fresno, CA, Dorothy (Paul) Sutherland of Niverville, Hilda Dyck of Winnipeg, Jim (Darlene) Fehr of Brandon and brother-in-law Larry (Natalia) Mather of Moosomin, Saskatchewan. There are many nieces and nephews who all loved their Uncle Dick and will miss him dearly. Dick was predeceased by his parents David and Mary Fehr; father-in-law Alonzo Mather and mother-in-law Winnifred Mather. The Ceremony to Celebrate Dick's Life was held on January 17, 2009 at Memories Chapel with Joe Ball officiating. Pallbearers were Dick's nephews: Scott Sutherland, Justin Sutherland, Allen Sutherland, Jamey Fehr, Donnie Fehr, and Rodney Fehr. Dick was laid to rest in Chater, Manitoba. The family would like to gratefully decline flowers and donations.
