HAITHWAITE: John William (Jack) passed away Tuesday, February 10th, 2009 in Surrey, BC Left to mourn are sons Jim; Barry (Patti), Rusty and Vincent; daughters Wendy Townsend, son Kevin; Faye Steeves, Cory and Cody; and three great-grandchildren, all of Surrey; step-daughter Karen (Rick) New, Dean, Warren (Louisa) and Dawn (Don) Deplantis; and six step-great-grandchildren, all of Barrie, ON; sisters Dorothy (Grant) Robertson, Calgary (formerly Boissevain, MB); Eleanor (Lloyd) McDonald, Brandon; sister-in-law Dorothy Haithwaite of Methven, MB; and numerous nieces and nephews. Jack was predeceased by his wife Vi; his parents Jim and Nellie of Methven; brothers Bob of Keremeos, BC and Melvin of Methven. Jack was born at Nesbitt, MB on October 17, 1922, and grew up in that area. He moved to BC in his late teens and worked in lumber mills in the Vancouver area for many years. He then changed his occupation to maintenance at Woodward’s Dept. Store in Surrey from where he retired in 1986. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service and burial will be in Surrey on February 17, 2009.
