FAWCETT: Earl Irvin Fawcett, of Brandon, formerly of Palmerston, Ontario, passed away at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on Saturday, August 29, 2009. Earl was born on the family farm at Palmerston, Ontario, west of Toronto on September 1, 1934. At the age fourteen he along with his mother and two brothers moved to Brandon due to his father's death as a result of asthma. Earl attended high school and later graduated from high school. During these years, he delivered groceries part time for Jiffy Grocery. Earl's first full time job was at Canadian Motors. In 1966, he moved to Winnipeg. There he spent one year at Gelhorn Motors. Later joined the sales force at Strephens Paint Co. Earl was always interested in finance. He went to work for International Company Imperial Investment in Winnipeg. In 1962, Earl moved back to Brandon and purchased a small real estate and general insurance office called Fawcett Agencies. Later he developed a flooring store and sold flooring. Earl was a member of the Kinsmen Club, United Way and Minor Hockey. He is survived by his son Guy (Nola) of Calgary; three grandchildren Jarett, Calah and Mitchell; and daughter Heather (Ian) Willson of Ottawa. He is also survived by sister-in-law Irene Fawcett of Fort Saskatchewan and aunt Bessy Gadke of Palmerston, Ontario. Earl was predeceased by his father Irvin William Fawcett; mother Alba; brothers Gordon and Barry. The Funeral Service will be held at St. George's Anglican Church, 5th Street and Southern Avenue on Saturday, September 5, 2009 at 11:00 am. Rev Jim Brown will officiate. Interment will follow in the Brandon Cemetery.
