GREEN: The death of Jessie Green (nee Curtis) occurred at the Riverdale Personal Care Home on Sunday, August 1, 2010. Jessie was born December 29, 1916 at Alexander, Manitoba, the daughter of Thomas and Mary Curtis. Shegrew up in the Alexander district attending Assiniboine and Alexander schools. Previous to her marriage to Percy Green in 1939, she was employed as a housekeeper in various homes in the Alexander district. After farming near Alexander for several years, Percy and Jessie purchased a farm at Bradwardine, Manitoba in 1950 where they resided until retiring to Rivers, Manitoba in 1986. Jessie was an active member of the United Church Women, the Rivers Hospital Guild, the Bradwardine Leisure Club, Sunday School superintendant, school van driver, and mail carrier over the years. One of her passions was knitting afghans and articles for the Red Cross. Jessie was predeceased by her husband Percy in 1988 and grandsons Andrew in 1984 and Jamie in 1995. She is survived by her son Barry (Gwen) of Kenton, Manitoba, daughters Luetta Sinclair (Keith) of Duncan, B.C. and Phyllis Dubuc of Montreal, Quebec. Her memory is also treasured by her five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. The Funeral Service will be held at Memories Chapel, 330-18th Street North, Brandon on Wednesday, August 4, 2010 at 1:30 P.M. Rev. Glenna Beauchamp of Rivers United Church will officiate. Interment will follow at Rosewood Memorial Gardens. Donations in memory of Jessie may be made to Riverdale Personal Care Home or Riverdale Palliative Care Unit, Box 428, Rivers, Manitoba, R0K 1X0.
