FARLEY: Earle Laverne Farley, of the Douglas area passed at Hillcrest Place Personal Care Home on March 2, 2012 with his loving wife Jean and Rev. Barb Jardine by his side. Earle was born on February 2, 1918. Despite major health issues over the past twenty five years he maintained a quiet positive attitude. He would often talk of his happy memories of his school days at Derry School, his family, and friends. Everyone and everything was important to him. Earle farmed the family farm with his brother Basil until his death in 1980. His interest in the farming continued throughout his lifetime. He preserved many of his farming memories of yesteryear, collecting antiquetractors and tools of that era. Earle was a member of Douglas United Church, Douglas Cemetery Board, Douglas Rink, Natural Historic Society and Canada Seed Growers Association. His interests included: curling, baseball, active in blue bird line, heavy horses and was an excellent marksman. His travels took him to various places in Europe and the South Pacific. His faith and his family was his greatest interest - he was loved and respected by all of his family, friends and community. He was a true role model throughout his 94 years. Earle is survived by spouse Jean, several nieces, nephews, sister and brother-in laws. He was predeceased by parents, Ed and May, first spouse Mary-Ann, brothers Basil, Clayton and Roy and their spouses, sisters Gwen Wilkie, Velma Swalwell and spouses, and Ezilpha, nephews Jim and Terry Farley and niece Donna Farley. At Earle's request a celebration of life will take place for family and friends at Memories Chapel, 330 - 18th Street North on Thursday, March 8, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. Rev. Barbara Jardine will officiate. His cremated remains will be laid to rest in Madford Cemetery at a later date.
