EYRES: Robert Gordon, much loved husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend, passed away peacefully at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on Saturday, August 4, 2012 surrounded by his loving family. Gordon was born September 23, 1918 in Brandon and raised on the family farm in the Carnegie district. He attended Robinville school upto grade eight. Gordon enrolled in the Royal Canadian Air Force on October 9, 1940. He was discharged on January 5, 1945 at the age of 22. Gordon met and married Jean Helen Watts on November 8, 1945. They resided on the family farm from 1945 to 1974, and then moved to Brandon. Gordon was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion for 52 years. He was a school trustee at Robinville School for nine years and worked at Brandon Automobiles from 1975 to 1982. He loved all sports; curling, playing cards, shuffleboard and baseball; which he played until age 81. Gordon was predeceased by his wife Jean in 2007; parents Harold and Edna Eyres; brother, Charlie and sisters, Helen, Dorothy and Gladys. He is lovingly remembered by his daughter Judith (Pete) Friesen of Carman and son Leslie (Leanne Binions) of Brandon. He is also loved by his grandsons Wayne Friesen of Edmonton, Jamie Friesen and Robert Friesen of Carman and the apple of his eye, his great granddaughter Ashley, plus numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at Memories Chapel, 330 18th St. North on Thursday, August 9, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. Flowers gratefully declined.
