GREEN: Violet. It is with sadness that the family of Violet Green announce her passing August 19th, 2012 at the age of 93. Vera Violet Green (Fahner) was born in Edmonton, Alberta, March 15, 1919 to David and Hilda Fahner, a sister to Edwin, and Astrid (Esther). Violet was raised on the family farm near Codette, Saskatchewan and spent most of her time there until she was 35 years old. In 1954 she married Leslie Green and moved to the Green farm near Belmont, Manitoba. In 1955 their only son Lorne was born. They continued to operate the farm until 1970 at which time the farm was sold and they moved to Rivers, Manitoba. She was able to stay in the family home after the passing of Les in 2003, thanks to the assistance of homecare. In 2009 she moved to the Personal Care Home where she resided until her passing. She was appreciative of her Care Home family and staff, who provided many reasons for her to smile. Violet cherished her family, her friends, and her Saviour, Jesus. She was a quiet, gentle woman and a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She always had time to share her firm belief in the eternal life awaiting her in heaven and encouraged everyone to ensure they were ready as well. Violet was predeceased by her parents, David and Hilda Fahner, brother Edwin, sister Esther, husband Leslie, many brothers and sisters in law, and nieces and nephews. She will be missed by her surviving family; son Lorne (Susan), grandchildren Sheri-Lyn, Derek (Nicole), Kaitlyn, Karalee, and great grandchildren Donovan, Dani, and Abigail. She is also survived by nieces and nephews and their families. A funeral service for Violet will be held in Rivers Zion Pentecostal Church at 2:00 p.m. August 27, 2012. Everyone is invited to join the family for a time of fellowship and refreshments immediately following the service, in the church basement.
