FALCONER: Aileen Mae Falconer (nee Casselman) passed away peacefully with family at her side at Delwynda Court PCH, in Deloraine on Friday, August 16, 2014. She was 105 years young. Aileen was born August 6, 1909 to Stephen and Tillie Casselman. She had a busy childhood caring for, playing and working with 10 siblings. She attended Lauder school from 1916-1928, then graduated from Normal school in Winnipeg in 1929. She taught for fifteen years in various schools: Pilot Mound, Purple Hill, Copperfield, Medora and Elgin. Aileen married Jim Falconer on August 24, 1944 at the Casselman Farm. They lived happily in Deloraine. Jim owned the insurance business and Aileen was an efficient housewife and community volunteer. The Eastern Star, Deloraine Legion, and Deloraine United Church gained a willing worker. One example of her dedication was teaching Sunday school for twenty six years. Jim and Aileen enjoyed curling, they were both members of the Deloraine Curling Club, she curled well into her 80’s. The Falconers had great pride in their quaint brick home, everything was in its place. Family and friends were always welcomed. Many gatherings and holidays happened to be celebrated on Lake Street. Auntie Aileen we will always remember your great determination and independence. One hundred and five years is no easy feat. You are remarkable, your intelligence and keen observation sense, youthfulness and hard work made you a very special lady. Aileen is survived by sister Mime Westcott and brother Harold Casselman and may numerous nieces and nephews and their families. We are so privileged to have had you in our lives. Many thanks to Dr. Brackenreed and the wonderful staff at Delwynda Court for the excellent care Aileen received, to Paul Smith of Smith Funeral Home and Rev. Allan Gairns for the beautiful service. Thank you to the Legion ladies for the delicious lunch following the service. In memory of Aileen donations may be made to Delwynda Court Personal Care Home, Box 447, Deloraine, Manitoba, R0M 0M0. Rest in Peace, dear Auntie Aileen! XOXOSmith Funeral Home 204-747-2088 www.wheatlandfs.com
