LAWSON: Kenneth Bruce Lawson passed away on Sunday, March 6, 2016 in Winnipeg, MB. Ken is survived by daughter Linda (Larry) Stuart; daughter-in-law Cathie Caron; grandchildren Susan (Chris), Tammy (Jeffery), Clinton (Claire), Tom (Nicole) and Robyn (Derek). He is also survived by six great-grandchildren (Benjamin, Shay, Edric, Elowen, McKenna and Eberlee). He was predeceased by his parents (David and Susan), his wife Jessie and son Jack. Ken was born on August 23, 1924 in Brandon, MB. He was part of a large family, being one of eleven children. He lived the majority of his life in Brandon but moved to Winnipeg in 2011 to be closer to family. Ken was loving, kind, generous, and hardworking. He was a devoted husband, wonderful father, father-in-law, grandpa and great- grandpa. He was often a man of few words but still waters run deep. Ken took great pride and joy in his 43 year marriage to Jessie. He showed us what it truly means to love someone. He encouraged her to travel and to enjoy the things she loved. When her health declined, he selflessly cared for her. He always prioritized her needs above his own. Ken worked for Weston Bakeries Ltd. for over 30 years. He took great pride in his work and in 1971 won the well-deserved Distinguished Salesmans Award. Ken was an active man and enjoyed exercising and gardening. He had an undeniable green thumb and took great pride in his vegetable garden and flowers. He was also an incredible housekeeper, extremely organized and always on time. In his later years, he enjoyed painting everything from birdhouses to Christmas ornaments. He gave many of these to his grandchildren and donated others to charity. He also spent countless hours volunteering his time working on projects for Buchanan school. He enjoyed being busy and helping others. We are all truly blessed to have had Ken in our lives. He will be forever loved and missed. We would like to thank Wendy Southall and staff on the third floor of Golden West Lodge and Dr. Joshua at Grace Hospital for the excellent care they provided. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 on Friday, March 18th at the Brandon Cemetery followed by a gathering for family and friends.
