GAVIN: It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Shawnessey Riley Gavin on November 11, 2016 at the age of 42, after a courageous battle with cancer. He leaves to mourn his wife Katy and three children Zac, Olivia and Tessa; his mother Claudette Pachkowski; father Michael Gavin (partner Debbie McMunn); brother Darren Gavin (Kristin) niece Ally, and nephew Ben; sister Meeghan Gavin; as well as numerous extended family and friends. Shawn was born on October 22, 1974 in North Bay, Ontario, and spent most of his childhood in western Canada. Shawn graduated from the University of Manitoba with a bachelor of education degree specializing in maths and sciences. Shawn taught in Portage la Prairie before relocating to England and settled in the Isle of Wight after meeting his wife Katy. Family was the most important aspect of Shawn’s life. Shawn was a dedicated teacher, evident by the large number of students who attended his funeral and spoke with great respect about his ability to teach and his infectious sense of humor. He’ll be greatly missed by his colleagues, students, friends and family. If one wishes, donations can be made in Shawn’s memory to the Canadian Cancer Society.
