LACHARITE: Leon. It is with great sadness that the family of Leon Lacharite announce his peaceful passing on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at Betel Homes in Selkirk. Leo was born in McCreary Manitoba on April 8, 1934. He worked his way to Brandon where he drove a truck for CP Transport for many years before working as a trailer mechanic at Pik-a-Dilly and later retiring in August of 1998 as a welder for the Brandon School Division. He then moved to Stonewall with his wife to enjoy their retirement years. Leo loved to keep busy and was known by name at all his usual stops around town. He always enjoyed tinkering in the shop and if something was broken, he found a way to fix it. He spent countless hours in his cook shack in between cutting wood to keep all the home fires burning, to making lunches on Saturday's where he made his famous potatoes on the old wood stove. Leo is predeceased by his wife Kay, and his sons Luverne and Darwin as well as his brother Alvin. Left to mourn his passing are his children; Pat, Dale (Janet), Noni (Oscar), Corky (Darcie), Barb (Art), daughters-in-law, Yvonne and Karen, sisters Reta Robertson and Irene Birin, as well as several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In keeping with the wishes of Leo, there will be no funeral services. The family would like to thank Betel Homes for their compassionate care for Leo and in such a short period of time he gained his favourites. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice. We’ll miss you Dad, but Mom is waiting for you just beyond the moon.
