RUTH (RUTHY) CALDER

May 14, 1959-May 23, 2020

It is with very heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our dear mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, Ruth Calder, on Saturday, May 23, 2020.

Ruth was predeceased by her first husband Adam Shpak, second husband Colin Calder, father John Storoschuk, mother Olga Storoschuk (nee Kantimer), sister Jacqueline Black and brother-in-law Walter Kischuk.

Ruth leaves to mourn her son Casey, stepson George (Roxane), granddaughters Barbara and Lacey, brother Sam, sisters Alice and Sylvia (Robert), as well as numerous nieces and nephews and their families.

Ruthy was the most kind and loving person with a great sense of humour. She had many friends, and wherever she went friends were made. Ruthy had a passion for cooking, baking and she loved BBQ’s. Family and friends would often gather at Ruthy’s for lots of laughs, and great food; no one left hungry. She always made you feel welcome. Ruthy was an animal lover; bringing your pet with was always encouraged, sending you on your way with goody bags filled with treats for you and your pets.

Ruthy, we love you; we thank you for all you have taught us and the love you have given us. You are greatly missed; our hearts are broken yet thankful for the many memories we have to cherish. Taco salad will never be the same.

According to Ruthy’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.

If friends wish to honour her memory, donations may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, MB, R3T 0R3; www.winnipeghumanesociety.ca. Family and friends may sign a Book of Condolence at www.crossingsfuneralcare.ca.
