MARGARETHA THIESSEN
(nee Wolfe)

Margaret Thiessen (nee Wolfe), 79, of Blumenort, MB, died unexpectedly on Sunday, June 30, 2019, at Bethesda Hospital in Steinbach, MB.

Margaret was predeceased by three children, Jacob in 1960, Judy in 1973 and Isaac in 1978, and her husband Jacob in 2014. She is survived by her family, John (Anna, children Rachele and Rodney), Peter (Emily, children Colette and Roger [Nikky]), Frank (Pearl, children Jamie [Scott, Gavin and Isla], Brett [Jamie B] and Jodi), David (Monica, children Samantha [Jordan], and Carter), Pauline (Garry, children Ryan [Jordan], Karla [Josh] and Alex), Erwin (Pearl), Dan (Sherry) and Bern.

Margaret was born on Mar. 24, 1940 to Johan Wolfe and Susan Krahn in Chihuahua, Mexico. She was baptized in her Old Colony Mennonite village on May 26, 1958, and her faith continued to grow over the years as she experienced many trials and joys as a Christian.

Margaret was famous for her ability to bring joy to anyone fortunate enough to eat her food. She had a style of creating food that left everyone satisfied, with rarely any leftovers to be found, whether it was traditional Mennonite food, Mexican enchiladas and tacos, or her own creations made from whatever was available. She was known for her food with her close friends and neighbours as well. It was not uncommon for her to leave a jar of soup at someone’s door or send bread home with visitors.

Margaret was well-known to bring cheer with her smile, her acceptance of others and her sense of humour.

When Jacob died five years earlier, she gradually assumed the role of a quiet spiritual leader in our family. With deep love for ALL of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren guiding her, she lead through courageous servanthood, admonishing her family to seek the Righteous path.

The funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 4 at 2 p.m. at the Blumenort EMC Church with viewing prior to the service and a private interment. The funeral will be broadcast live on Blumenort EMC - YouTube.

Mom, Grandma, Great-Grandma, Margaret, Mrs Thiessen, you will be missed dearly.
