Ferdinand Steinert, 86, formerly of Woodmore, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 16, 2015, at the Emerson Personal Care Home.
Ferd was born August 24, 1929 on the family farm homestead in the Sagathun District, north of Maple Creek, Saskatchewan. He was predeceased by his parents, David and Holdina Steinert, 2 sisters and 4 brothers. He is survived by 2 sisters and 1 brother, 1 sister-in-law, 1 brother-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Ferd grew up on the family farm in Woodmore and continued to farm it with his brother August until ill health brought a short stay at the Franklin Manor in Dominion City and his final move to the Emerson Personal Care Home. His family is grateful for the wonderful people who watched over him at the Manor and the loving and compassionate care he received at the Personal Care Home.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, September 21, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church in Friedensthal, Manitoba. A private committal will take place prior to the service at the Parish Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, if so desired donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
