SADIE EPP
February 18, 1921 – August 15, 2014
After a brief illness, our dear mother, grandmother and great-grandmother peacefully graduated to her eternal home on Friday, August 15, 2014 at Rest Haven Nursing Home.
Sadie will be lovingly remembered by her five children: Mavis (and Gerald) Reimer of Winnipeg, Landis (and Evelyn) Epp of Battleground, WA, Marilyn Pankratz of Port Moody, BC, Vi (and Paul) Peters of Steinbach, Reg (and Mary) Epp of Tarakan, Indonesia, and their families. Sadie had 13 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren, all so precious to her. Sadie was predeceased by her parents and siblings, her husband, Rev. Samuel H. Epp, one grandson and one son-in-law.
Our parents grew up in Saskatchewan, met at Bible school, then married and lived for a time on the family farm. From there they followed the call of God to serve in teaching, missions and pastorates in various locations in the U.S. and Canada. Mom worked alongside Dad in pastoral visitation and hospitality, while raising their family. After their last pastorate, they moved back to Steinbach to retire. Dad enjoyed his piano tuning business, and together they did custodial work at the Cornerstone Bible Church. After Dad's health failed, Mom lovingly cared for him, first at home, and then at the personal care home. A widow for almost 15 years, she valiantly continued serving her family and others as she was able. Mom had complete trust in the Lord to provide and lead, and graciously accepted relocating to Cedarwood and Rest Haven when her health deteriorated. She was an example as a prayer warrior, and of contentment in all circumstances. She encouraged those around her with her attitude of thankfulness. She finished well, and was ready to meet her Lord and Savior.
A celebration of Sadie Epp's life will be held on Saturday, August 23 at 2 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, 162 Hwy 52 West, Steinbach, MB, with interment in Heritage Cemetery. There will be a time of viewing at the chapel prior to the service.
The family would like to extend their thanks to Doctors Kaethler, Krahn and Trinh, as well as the caring staff at Cedarwood Supportive Housing and Rest Haven Nursing Home.
