Frances Kiansky (nee: Bugera)

On Wednesday, July 16, 2014, Frances Kiansky (nee: Bugera) passed away at the age of 83 years. She was predeceased by her children Kenneth and Caroline, her parents Maria (Kis) and Michael Bugera, and her brothers Peter, Nick and Mike. She leaves to mourn her husband of 65 years, Michael, her children David (Marlene), Richard (Valery), Alvin (Brenda), Pat Kachurowski (Glen), Laurel Illchuk (Jeffrey) and Steven (Val), her 15 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, her sisters Anne Huskie, Helen Keith (Gordie), Marilyn Marynowski (Paul), her brothers Joe, Bill, Steve (Mae), and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Frances spent the majority of her life living on the farm in Arbakka where she and her husband worked at mixed farming. She worked along-side her husband every day in addition to maintaining several gardens, doing fall canning, and raising and providing for her children. Frances loved children and she was especially proud of each and every one of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Their photos always found a spot to be displayed in her home. Her passion for flowers was evident on the farm, as well as in Vita where they moved after retirement. There were flowers in abundance in beds scattered throughout the yards. Not only did Frances have a “green thumb”, but she was also a talented artist that painted Ukrainian Easter Eggs and did ceramics. She enjoyed fishing and really liked to get away to a few Bingos now and then. Frances was a member of the Ukrainian Catholic Women’s League in Vita where she served as a Head Cook for several years, and helped cater many weddings, banquets and other events in the community. Frances spent the last 10 years of her life in Vita, and the last few months in the Care Home with Mike, her husband of 65 years. Her faith in God got her through her life and made her the wonderful, peaceful and kind woman that she was and her beautiful smile will never be forgotten.

Funeral Service was held on Monday, July 21, 2014 at St Demetrius Ukrainian Catholic Church.
