WENDY CAROL HARRIS SETTLER
She is lovingly missed and will forever be remembered by her daughters, Laine (Luc Jubinville) and Courtney (John Peterson); and her grandchildren, Alexi, Zachari, and Olivier Jubinville. She will be also be remembered by her brothers, Bryan and Grant Harris; their families; her many nieces, nephews and cousins; and by her special friends, Len Settler, Lance Denoon, Janice Hooper, Melva Widdicombe and Donna-May Glowaicki.
Wendy was predeceased by her parents, Bill and Edith Harris; and her sister, Deborah Gard.
Wendy was immensely proud of her family; she taught her daughters to be kind, strong, compassionate women. She was their rock and always their biggest supporter.
Wendy's love for her family was radiant, and the lights of her life were her three grandsons. A visit with Grandma was always filled with fun and laughter, whether making a special recipe, going on an adventure around town, or escaping to the lake.
Almost as much as she loved being a Grandma, Wendy loved the beach, the lake, and the coast. She had such fond memories of Gimli, and the family time spent sailing on the Wendebee II. She also treasured the chapter of her life that she spent exploring Vancouver Island.
Wendy's love resonated beyond her family life, and her magnetic energy influenced every path she crossed. She weaved together a cherished community of kindness; she knew how to make everyone feel special and loved, and invited many beautiful people into her circle. We know her loss is far reaching.
Wendy had a brilliant sense of style and design, which inspired so many over the years. She loved fashion, and spent her working life at many of Winnipeg's finest boutiques - The Unicorn, Moulé, Robin Kay, and Sue's to name a few. Wendy had a unique flair and passion that she brought to every relationship and aspect of her life; she possessed a magician-like quality, and could effortlessly transform the ordinary into the extraordinary.
If more of us embraced Wendy's free spirit and positive outlook on life, our world would be a much better place. We will all miss her love, warmth, compassion, kindness, and generosity. We know she will be remembered with fondness by many, and her fun, loving nature and beauty will live on in our memories and stories.
We would like to thank the wonderful team at CancerCare Manitoba.
Donations to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation in Wendy's name would be appreciated.
A celebration of Wendy's life will be held in spring 2021.

Oh Wendy. I looked you up today to reconnect and you’re gone, way too soon. Summers at Gimli dock and driving to the chip hangout were so fun! I loved you then and thought of you often through the years. Julie Tawns - Posted by: Julie Tawns Rogers (Teen friend) on: Oct 28, 2023

I was very sad to hear of Wendy’s passing. I have not seen her in many years. But in the day when we were in each other’s immediate lives she was a wonderful friend. The one thing amongst many was when you were with Wendy, she made you feel like you were the most important person in the room❗️Which looking back is a wonderful quality. I feel blessed to have been one of her friends and her brother Grant’s friend & Lenny, my childhood friend for life. This is a very sad loss. But knowing her parents, & Lenny’s, Wendy’s legacy & superb genes continue on for years to come. I send my sincere condolences. Lots of love to the whole family, Susan🌟 - Posted by: Susan Starr (née Genser) (Friend ) on: Jan 17, 2021

I was in high school with Wendy. We were not in the same grade, but that did not matter as we attended a very small all girls school. I remember her as a lovely person and am so sorry to read of her passing. She will be in my prayers always. My sincere condolences to her daughters. - Posted by: Barb Smith (high school ) on: Jan 02, 2021

I was shocked and saddened to hear of Wendy's recent passing. Wendy and I first became friends in about Grade 5 or 6 at Dr Hamilton School in East St. Paul. She invited me to her family home for pool parties and my first ever sleep over...she always seemed larger than life with her laughter, fun-loving spirit, independence and fashion sense! It was a blessing to reconnect with Wendy one evening at a Gr 7 &8 reunion in 2018 and to catch up and hear about her family, whom she was so proud of and to once again experience her laughter and fun-loving spirit. Condolences to family...R.I.P Wendy! - Posted by: Teresa Wiebe (nee Vanderhorst) (Friend) on: Dec 26, 2020

I knew Wendy from grade school at Robert Andrews School (East St Paul). I remember her laughter and fun loving spirit. In particular I remember a pool party she had at her place (were we 13? 14?) and Wendy WAS the party. You couldn't help but laugh and have fun when you were around her. I know she would have made an incredible mother and grandmother!! My condolences to her family; may your memories of her bring you warmth and bring smiles to your faces and joy and love to your heart. - Posted by: Jerrie Hanchuk (Rebeck) (school friend) on: Dec 26, 2020

I cannot begin to describe what Wendy meant to me. She played a pivotal role in my upbringing. She took me into her home when my home wasn’t the most pleasant place to be. She taught me to express myself, to be true to myself, to let my creativity flow without any judgment. She fed me, she cared for me, she laughed with me, and I don’t think she could’ve known how truly important to me she was. She was such an amazing role model, she was a strong, independent woman who wasn’t afraid to be herself. As an adult looking back, she was exactly what every woman strives to be! I will never forget the drive out to the lake when she had Patsy Clines “Crazy” on repeat so that Courtney and i could memorize it before reaching the cabin... and we did... I could STILL sing it all by heart! Thank you Wendy for always supporting me and always caring for me like I was your own.... You are, and will be missed... - Posted by: Bree Lauder (Her 3rd daughter aka childhood friend of Courtney) on: Dec 26, 2020

Dear Courtney and Family, my sincere condolences to each of you. I know Wendy adored each of you as she always spoke of you with such love and fondness. I first had the privilege of meeting Wendy when I "shopped her closet" full of beautiful clothing. With each visit to buy something, our conversations would turn to family, "goings on" in our lives, travel... Very simply, we became friends. I always looked forward to stopping by and learning something new and unique about her life. Wendy was a kind - hearted, talented woman. And as I continue to wear each of my beautiful purchases, I will miss her and remember with joy the special person she was and the cherished visits each piece brings to mind. - Posted by: Susan E Thiessen (Friend ) on: Dec 08, 2020

My Condolences and Sympathies to her family during this difficult time. Wendy was my first serious crush from grade school at Robert Andrews. Never really knew what Wendy liked about me but she went out of her way to include me in many activities she was doing at the time. Watching movies, swimming and hanging out on the boat. I was definitely outclassed by her style and seemingly privileged life. Caring and generous, always dear to my heart. I had the pleasure of seeing Wendy about a year ago when we attended a get together with our classmates from 50 plus years ago and looked forward to having more visits to reconnect and reminisce the old times and fun that we all shared together. Sadly that is not to be. I will cherish her memory and keep her close in my heart always. Rest In Peace Wendy - Posted by: Brett Armstrong (School friend) on: Dec 06, 2020

I don't think that there is anyone coming away from a conversation with Wendy who would not feel better from that conversation. She was a fun, funny, caring, loving and always interesting. A new star in the galaxy. - Posted by: Morgan Willacy (Friend) on: Dec 05, 2020
