DANTE SILVESTRIN
November 18, 1929 – November 29, 2020

In the early hours of the morning, Sunday November 29, 2020, Dante passed away at Riverview Health Centre at the age of 91 with his family at his side.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Angelamaria; daughters, Adriana Silvestrin and Anna-Maria Colman (Bill); grandchildren, Andrew (Rachel), Deidra, Evana and Paul; his sister Cristina and sister-in-law Diva in Italy; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, John and Marge Ferla; nieces and nephews, Mark (Karen), Stefan and Claire, Kathleen (Mike) Cole, Austin and Brennan, Kristin and Luka (Denver, Colorado) and numerous adoring nieces and nephews in Italy.
As a young man, Dante came to Canada in 1957 at the age of 27. He came to build a better life. That Christmas, he met his soulmate Angelamaria at Tec Voc night school, where they were both learning English. They were married in April 1959. Dante worked very hard to build a wonderful life for his family and worked hard for his community, volunteering hundreds of hours with the Alpini Group, the Knights of Columbus, Folklorama and Holy Rosary Church. In 1989, he realized his dream of creating a beautiful family summer home. Dante also enjoyed hunting with Hydro friends and fishing with us and the grandchildren. He loved to play bocce with the family at the cottage. He loved to work in his garden and tend to his grapes. There was always abundance for the whole family. He lived for his family.
We would like to our extend heart felt thank you to the staff and management of Riverview Health Centre over the past three years, to Unit A1 for their unwavering care and compassion and to Unit A2 where Dante had been since September. We would also like to thank all those who took the time to visit with him and their unconditional support for the last three years. To Rina Sandron and Garry Harland, please know that your visits were cherished.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a children's charity of your choice.
Due to Covid 19 restrictions, a funeral will be held at a later date.

Your suffering is over … rest in peace …
we love you.
