Mytro (Matt/Mickey) Tostowaryk passed away on January 4, 2021, with his loving family by his side. He was born on October 12, 1925 in Arbakka, MB.
He is survived by the love of his life, his sweetheart and honey, Doris, and his children, Brant of Los Angeles and Sherri (Jay), and his three grandsons, Matthew, Devon and Cole of Winnipeg.
Mytro is survived by sisters, Myrtle, Alice, Betty (Ken); and brothers, Wally (Joan) and Dennis. He was predeceased by three brothers and one sister.
He had worked as a high-rigger crane operator before becoming a Carman at CNR Transcona Shops where he retired from. He had many colourful stories of the past which he loved to tell, especially to his grandsons. Family was so important to him. He was so proud of his grandsons and told everyone all about their accomplishments.
After retirement, Mytro kept active with bowling, cross country skiing, dancing and travelling extensively, including 15 cruises. He was still going to the gym daily at age 94.
Thank you to Tuxedo Villa for the wonderful care they provided during his short time there.
As per Mytro's wishes, there will be no service. Instead, have a drink of Crown Royal, play a game of crib, and think of him and one of his many stories and tales.
A private family interment will be held at Glen Lawn Cemetery.

Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • Distinguished Father of our dear friends, Brant and Sherri, and husband of our also dear friend Doris. We had the good fortune of meeting with them at our home in Los Angeles, CA when they would visit Brant. We had them as guests at our home numerous times and were always a pleasure to be with. God Bless you Mickey and save us a bit of that Crown Royal for when we meet again. Our deepest condolences and greatest sympathy to our dear Doris, Brant, Sherri and all of the extended Tostowaryk family. Sincerely, your grieving and forever friends, Jan and Jesse De La Vega. - Posted by: Jan and Jesse De La Vega (Dear Friends through son Brant and daughter Sherri) on: Jan 10, 2021
