Mom loved spending time with family, especially her grandchildren. She worked very hard all of her life to make sure her children had what they needed.
She thrived on her independence, doing what she wanted to do when she wanted to do it. One of her favourite things to do was to play Bingo. You made sure not to stand in the way of Mom and Bingo night. She would always welcome the company of anyone who wanted to go with her. It didn't matter if you were a beginner or pro player, Mom would dab her numbers (on her million cards) AND dab the ones you missed on your three cards! If you were sitting next to her though, you had better be prepared if she had a bingo because she made sure everyone knew when she yelled BINGO.
Mom also had a huge heart when it came to animals. There was never a time growing up that we didn't have animals. Even when Mom lived in her latest place, we would bring our animals over to visit. It always brought a smile to her face, especially when Lil P was there. Her words, "Hey Little Buddy, how ya doing?" will always be remembered.
Mom had many grandchildren she absolutely adored. She was always there when they needed her and always willing (with some complaining) to try new things with them. They knew her boundaries and it was not uncommon to hear a 'sorry Gram' when a random swear word would slip through in her presence. Jordon, Andree, Kyle, Shayne, Dylan, Barry, Katlin, Cory, Quinn, Kiera and Dakota, you will always have a special place in Gram's heart!
Mom had her daughter and granddaughter in her room as well as her other children, siblings, nephews, nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces on a video call surrounded by love when she took her last breath.
Those of us left behind to remember and celebrate mom's life are her children, Michael, Sandy (Doug), their girls, Katlin (Conner) and Cory (Eli). Donny (Jen), his children, Jordon, Andree (Shane), Kyle and Dakota. Kathy and her boys, Shayne, Dylan and Barry. Linda (Steve) their girls, Kiera and Quinn. Mom also left behind her siblings, Dorothy, Michael, Jan and Judy (Steve). Along with many nephews, nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces and even some great-great nephews and great-great nieces.
Mom went to go have coffee with her parents, Michael and Elizabeth Alexiuk; her sister Linda; sister-in-law Geraldine and many other relatives that will be there to greet her.
We would like to thank the staff at Bethesda Hospital for their care of our mom/gramma. Also, thank you to the staff at Le Chalet where mom lived.
We know in these damn (sorry Gram), crazy times, mom would want us to remember to be patient and be kind to one another.
