GARRY BRIAN BALLAN
May 27, 1956 - January 9, 2021

Peacefully on January 9, Garry Ballan passed away after a courageous battle with cancer.
Garry was predeceased by his mother Lena; father Steve; infant brother Joseph; father-in-law Albert Dreger and sister-in-law Doris Zborowsky.
He leaves to mourn his partner Debbie Dreger; brothers, Randy, Vernon, David; nephew David; mother-in-law Linda Dreger; sisters-in-law, Marilyn (Adrian), Becky (Tim), Gail (Joe); brother-in-law Dean; niece Katrina; many relatives, close friends and special buddy Crawford.
Born in St. Pierre, Manitoba on May 27, Garry was raised on the family farm in Calowrie, MB until 1966, when the family moved to Winnipeg. After completing high school, he started his career with CP Rail, retiring after 35 years. Not ready to leave the workforce, he found new employment at Headingley Correctional Institution. He cherished the lifelong friendships that were made through his employment. Throughout his life, Garry enjoyed outdoor activities such as snowmobiling, hunting, fishing and taking the occasional trip to locations in Canada, United States and Mexico. He also appreciated spending time at the lake with family and friends.
The family would like to sincerely thank the team at CancerCare Manitoba, including Dr. Akra, Dr. R. Wong, Dr. T. Fatoye, Marybeth, Karris, Keith, Crystal and Caroline, as well as the Palliative Care team for their excellent care and compassion.
Due to Covid-19, a Celebration of Life will not be held at this time and a private family interment will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba or an animal shelter of your choice.
