CELIA LOUISE WILSON
May 24, 1961 January 3, 2021
Celia is survived by her daughter Bronwyn (Austin), parents, Mary and Stanley, siblings, Fay, Jennifer (Martin), Simon and children, Cailyn and Deven, and Chris, as well as close friends, Shelley, Vanessa, Frances, Harold and Tina, Lisa, and Sally.
Celia was born in Saskatchewan and early travels included moves across Canada, to the UK and back, then to Winnipeg where the family finally settled in St. James. Celia worked at Eaton's department store for 11 years then pursued a career as a dental assistant which she worked in for 12 years, including the time she cherished working in remote northern communities of Canada.
As a parent Celia was most proud of her daughter Bronwyn and all she accomplished including graduating from university. Bronwyn was Celia's world and her greatest gift to the world.
Celia was a woman of faith which she practiced as a member of Church of the Rock where she attended regularly. She was known for her selflessness, generosity, and kindness to everyone she met. Celia was very artistic and pursued photography, ceramics, pottery, sketching and painting as hobbies doing some projects for the Irish Club. She was proud of her home and enjoyed gardening, the changing seasons in her backyard and the animals that visited it. She loved sitting in the evening by the fire pit and the companionship of her pets, Oscar, Kelly and Nikita. Celia's other favourite place to spend time was on the beach or near water. She loved nature and enjoyed camping which began with family camping trips through western Canada.
Celia was predeceased by her grandparents, Annie and Patrick, and Louise and Hugh, aunts, Margery, Bridget, Lucille and Margaret, and uncles, Patrick and Brian.
Celia battled cancer with courage and resilience for 14 years. The family would like to thank everyone involved in Celia's care including Dr. David Hochman, Dr. Ralph Wong, Dr. Lipschitz, Dr. Kowaluk, Dr. Gingerich, Dr. Beiko, Dr. Butler, and the staff on the 4th floor of St. Boniface Hospital, Shoppers Drug Mart (Tuxedo), ET Nurses, Bonita, Tina and Elaine, Palliative Care Nurses, Lisa, Lynda, Donna, and Lana, Healthcare Aides, Gina, Winnie and Dahlia, and Wheels of Hope.
According to Celia's wishes cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be announced later.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to United Way, Variety Children's Charity, or a charity of your choosing in her memory.
GOD SAW YOU GETTING TIRED
God saw you getting tired,
When a cure was not to be,
He closed His arms round you and whispered, "Come to me."
In tears we saw you sinking,
We watched you fade away.
Our hearts were almost broken,
You fought so hard to stay.
What you suffered, you told us few,
You didn't deserve what you went through.
Tired and weary, you made no fuss
But tried so hard to stay with us.
But when we saw you sleeping,
So peaceful, free from pain,
We could not wish you back
To suffer all that again.
So treasure her Lord, in your garden of rest,
For here on earth, she was the very best.
Always remembered, always cherished.
Each memory a part of us, a part of you,
Never to be lost. God Bless You, Amen.

Dear Bronwyn, Mary, Stanley, Jennifer, Fay and Simon, I would like to send you armfuls of love from across the Atlantic, to try and ease your sorrow. It feels unreal to be writing such words. I will always remember dear Celia as a very joyful and beautiful person, one that can never be forgotten, from the time I was in Winnipeg, many years ago. I wanted to have a tree planted in Celia's name. I chose an orange tree, for the values of generosity, eternity, and altruism it conveys. It will be Celia's tree, and it will grow peacefully in a private Peruvian plantation. With love and fondest memories. - Posted by: Claudine Sizun ((friend of Jennifer's, from France)) on: Feb 19, 2021

Celia my dear friend there’s no words to express how much I miss you. I think about you everyday and all the amazing things you have taught me through out my life. You taught me how to be caring, loving, selfless, forgiving, brave and to trust in the Lord for he will battle your fears with you and protect you. Heaven has gained a perfect angel and that is you. I know heaven has also gained the most beautiful gardens. I’m becoming a mom for the first time and I know you will be guiding me from up above. I love you so very much and I know you are truly at peace. My deepest condolences to the Wilson family. - Posted by: Vanessa Myers (Close Friend ) on: Jan 24, 2021
