It is with broken hearts and profound sadness we announce the sudden passing of Carmen Lewis Bennett on January 5, 2021.
Carmen's life will be dearly remembered and celebrated by all those he's left behind: his daughter Kendra, friend and son-in-law Mark and his beloved granddaughters, Mackenzie and Riley; his son Shaymus and grandson Tucker; stepdaughters, Lareina and Rhoda and families; friend and ex-wife Harriett; sisters, Connie (Al), Kelly (Harry), Colleen and brother Keith (Darlene).
He will also be greatly missed by his many nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family and friends. Carmen was predeceased by his father Homer and his mother Florence. Over the course of Carmen's life, he had a number of special relationships especially with his nephew and friend Mitchell and family.
Carmen was a beautiful soul and a free spirit. He greatly enjoyed the outdoors and was very mindful and educated on global issues. He was passionate and loved to talk politics, always welcoming a friendly debate. He loved and appreciated all types of music and for years was always randomly grabbing his guitar teaching himself to pick some cords. You could always hear him cheering loudly and watching intently at all different sports such as hockey, baseball, boxing, golf and in recent years, basketball. He was incredibly intelligent and truly so funny with such a quick wit that was unmatched. He had the best smile and an infectious laugh. Carman had a kind heart, he loved hard and unconditionally. And with this love it was endless for his granddaughters and their relationships will be forever treasured. My daddy, my confidant and my constant, a man like no other, now a bright shining star in the sky.

"You are the finest, loveliest, tenderest,
and most beautiful person I have ever
known and even that is an understatement"
-F. Scott Fitzgerald.

Thank you to family and friends for their love, kindness and support during this difficult time.
A celebration of Carmen's life will be announced at a later date.

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • When Connie called to tell me of her brother Carmen's passing she shared through her sadness and tears a big sister's bond with her little brother. And as I read this tribute it is so very evident that Carmen embraced those he loved, the ideas he held and the creativity he nurtured with no holds barred; a legacy to be cherished. For all who loved him may memories and time ease your sorrow and may you feel held in the warmth of Carmen's everlasting love. - Posted by: Lucille Meisner (Connie and Al's daughter) on: Jan 19, 2021
