KERRY RONALD ARMIT
August 22, 1954 - May 19, 2021
Kerry was born and raised in Winnipeg and graduated from the University of Manitoba with a BSc in biochemistry and organic chemistry. Shortly after graduation he joined the RCMP with a goal to work forensics.
He worked general duty in Fernie, BC for five years and left to work in Winnipeg for the Winnipeg Police Department for 25 years, most of this in the identification unit. At retirement in 2007, new opportunities were presented in Kelowna, BC and he worked with ident there mentoring new members. Kerry then worked at Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit as the building and fleet manager.
Kerry was the ultimate handyman and skilled woodworker. He built and renovated numerous homes and enjoyed helping friends with their projects. Kerry also was an avid skier and enjoyed boating, waterskiing, wakeboarding and scuba diving. He lived to be out on the lake all summer. Kerry's love for travel was cut short far too early.
He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years Eleeta (Nokes); his mother Olga and brother Glenn (both of Winnipeg); numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; his two sisters-in-law, Patricia (Bruce, Alana, and Kelsey) in Winnipeg and Rose Marie (Tekoa and Apaula) in Brisbane.
The family would like to thank: Dr. Richard Blakemore for his compassion and care; special thanks to Mo and Dr. Alexandra Deliyannides and Joelle Wall; to Dr. Wall and Dr. Jade Dittaro and the team on 4B at Kelowna General Hospital for such kind, respectful and caring support and treatment, and helping Kerry get to Hospice at the right time; and Dr. Germaine and Dr. Sauciuc at Cancer clinic for their sage advice and guidance; the wonderful staff at Central Okanagan Hospice House for caring for Kerry and keeping him comfortable.
In lieu of flowers please donate to Central Okanagan Hospice House (https://hospicecoha.org).

So very sorry to hear of Kerry's passing. As a member of the RCMP Forensic Lab in Winnipeg I worked very closely with Kerry on numerous cases over the years. Kerry was a wonderful person and Debra and I have so many fond memories of our times together with Kerry and Eleeta. Kerry was highly respected, not only for his ability as a Police Officer, but as an individual. Kerry and I worked together in St. James and he was a consummate officer and a great partner. Our deepest sympathy to Eleeta and the Armit family. He will be truly missed. Rick and Debra Montsion - Posted by: Rick and Debra Montsion (Colleague and friends) on: May 23, 2021

I first met Kerry on May 19, 1981 when we started recruit class 100 together. He was a class act in every respect. Condolences go out to Eleeta and the rest of his family. - Posted by: Ron Wauer (Former colleague WPS) on: May 22, 2021
A very sad day for all of us. I proudly worked with Kerry in traffic in his St. James district 2 days. Wonderful partner. Will always treasure our time together, especially at the Winnipeg Jets games. God speed my old friend. - Posted by: David Moss (Winnipeg Police Traffic St. James days) on: May 22, 2021
My sincere sympathy to Eleeta, to Glenn and all of the family. I remember the shy smiles in high school and the great work ethic. You are all 16 years old in my memory. Remember the good times. - Posted by: Tom Dercola (Teacher) on: May 22, 2021
I worked with Kerry in Winnipeg. He was the epitome of professionalism. Our work loads were extremely heavy, but anytime I had a question Kerry would put his own work down and concentrate on showing me proper techniques. He was very patient and meticulous. He was a great person and a very kind soul. Eleeta, know that Kerry touched many people with his generosity. His knowledge and passion for Ident work made people around him better and more excited to do the work. He was really a great great person. - Posted by: Chris Mclean (Co worker ) on: May 22, 2021
I didn't have the opportunity to work directly with Kerry, but I'm certainly very aware of his reputation within the WPS, specifically the Forensic Services Unit. His name comes up frequently during conversations when references are made to interesting cases or certain techniques that have been developed within the unit. It's so incredible and inspiring that one can have a lasting impact on others despite not being present; what a legacy! My deepest condolences to Kerry's friends and family. - Posted by: Jason Dee (Former colleague.) on: May 22, 2021
I am terribly sorry for your loss Glenn. My prayers are with you and your family. - Posted by: Maureen Scott (old friend of his brother Glenn.) on: May 22, 2021
Kerry was an all round nice guy and easy to work with. He was smaller than most, but his friendliness and knowledge made him much larger and very well respected. Worked with him when he first came to Winnipeg... - Posted by: Glen Spryszak (Co-worker) on: May 22, 2021
