YAMUNA HEGDEKAR
Yamuna obtained her degree in English literature, was well-versed in Sanskrit scriptures and worked in accounting while in India. Arriving to Canada in 1965 with her husband Baburao, she lived in Winnipeg for 49 years where she made a home for her family. She ran a licensed daycare for several years out of her home. Yamuna, a strong independent woman, was also an active leader in the Indian community with her many contributions to the Hindu Society, Folklorama and Marathi community. She enjoyed reading classic literature, tending to her garden and cooking delicious feasts for her family. She was known for her patience and calm demeanour.
She is survived by her children, Mona (Karl), Seema, and Niraj. She will be dearly missed by her grandchildren, Kiran and Lian.
We would like to express our deepest gratitude to Dr. Hanson and the compassionate staff at Deer Lodge Centre (2 East) as well as the Palliative Care team for their excellent care. Special thanks to Lori Krysko (Unit Manager) for all of her support.
Funeral service will be for immediate family only.
