It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our much-loved husband, dad and grandpa, on July 19, 2021.
With his family at his side, Dad peacefully passed after a lengthy battle with Parkinson's. Gilbert was born in Quebec and grew up on the St. Lawrence River in Melocheville. Dad had a passion for cars, hunting, and fishing. Working as a surveyor at the Kettle Station in Gillam, he met the love of his life Audrey. They married and had three daughters and are celebrating 50 years together this year. After a number of years working at the Winnipeg Fire Department as a heavy-duty mechanic, Dad fulfilled his dream of owning his own business, successfully operating both the Petersfield and Clandeboye Stores. Dad was exceptionally generous and proud to serve his community.
Dad's legacy will live on in his children and grandchildren. Gilbert is survived by his loving wife Audrey; children, Giselle, Vivian (Keith), Susie (Mauricio); grandchildren, Molson, Simon, Marcus; brothers, Michel (Ghislaine), Richard (Sara), Robert; and sister Monique (Claude). He was predeceased by his parents, Lucien and Anita Cousineau.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
A gift in honour can be made to Parkinson Canada.
Gilbert will be lovingly remembered by family and friends as a kind, gentle and patient man.

Dad, you are forever in our hearts.

Condolences may be left on his tribute wall

Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk

I offer you my condolences Audrey, your children, grandchildren and all the Cousineau family. I had the chance to grow up next to the Cousineau family and to know a little Gilbert in his youth in Melocheville. I remember him as a very calm and kind man. His beautiful smile on this picture represents him well. The few times I met him in the last few years, his courage in the face of the difficult Parkinson's disease was truly inspiring. Your love and support were surely precious to him. May his benevolence continue to protect you. PS: Mon père Aimé sera triste pour vous mais réconforté de le retrouver au ciel. My father Aimé will be sad for you but comforted to receive him in heaven. - Posted by: Diane Martineau (famille amie de Melocheville) on: Jul 24, 2021
