WOLFGANG RUDOLPH SCHULZ
October 3, 1948 - August 3, 2021
His favourite entertainment was reading and discussing politics. Don't get him started. Throughout their growing years, Wolf's greatest pleasure was spending time with his grandchildren. As youngsters, they were convinced that grandpa had all the answers. As they grew into adulthood, they were fond of saying, "If grandpa doesn't know the answer, he will make it up".
We treasure the memories of our many years living in our cottage in Belair, Manitoba, travelling to Mexico and especially wintering in Florida.
He is survived by his loving wife, Randy, son Jason (Julia), daughter Candace (Jody), his three precious grandchildren, Nolan, Brooklyn and Ethan, brothers, Harald (Bonnie) and Alex (Myrt), sisters-in-law who became beloved sisters, Cheri (Ed, Shannon and Ian), Kim (Rod) and many nieces and nephews. Wolf was predeceased by father Hugo, mother Amalie, sister and brother-in-law, Ingrid and Garry.
Wolf was born in Gronau, Germany and immigrated with his family to Winnipeg as a baby. He grew up on Elgin Avenue until he was 17 and joined the Air Force. He was stationed in Cold Lake, Alberta. After serving his term, he returned to Winnipeg where he joined the Winnipeg Police Department until 1979. Following his resignation as a police constable, Wolf worked for Canada Post Corporation until he retired, after which he lived at the place he loved, his cabin.
Special thanks to the staff at CancerCare Manitoba in Winnipeg with special thanks to Tamara. You were our lifeline and our "go to" person, and we sincerely thank you for that. Wolf ended his life at Riverview where he was given care and compassion every day he was there. Special thanks are extended to Megan, Bobby and Janice.
From Candace: To the best man I know. You walked into a ready-made family and accepted and loved us from the get go, and I know I didn't make it easy. You've taught me so much over the years from baking to cooking to home repair. You were showing me life hacks before it was a thing. Thanks for choosing us. Love you forever.
From Jason: Wolf had the patience of a saint when dealing with two extremely stubborn and hard-headed teenagers. He was also the best grandfather anyone could imagine.
Cremation has taken place. Respecting his wishes, there will be no service held.
Should you so desire, donations may be made in memory of Wolf to CancerCare Manitoba or to the charity of one's choice.
Till we meet again, Wolfie,
you will always be in my heart.
