BETTY KLASSEN
(nee VAN NORMAN)
June 26, 1944 - August 2, 2021
Mom was preceded by her husband Henry Klassen, her brother Cliff and sister-in-law Lillian. Mom leaves behind three sons, Todd (Debbie), Darren (Mary Jane), Wade (Cindy), and grandchildren, Eric, Jessica Tiffany, Kole, Gage, Bryce, Reese, Hayley and Kayla.
Mom was born and grew up in Rainy River, Ontario and enjoyed being outside close to nature. She spent the majority of her life in Winnipeg with the other years being spent in Port Alberni and Abbotsford, BC. She was a giver, even though she did not have many material possessions she was always willing to share what she had. She volunteered at Union Gospel Mission, Christmas Cheer Board and her church just to name a few. Mom was always trying something new, never one to stay in one place or one job for too long before she was on to the new place, job or training course.
She had a laugh that would light up a room and a joyful spirit, even when discussing serious topics she found a way to laugh and lighten the mood. She loved to spend time with family and friends cooking, baking or just enjoying their company. She had a profound faith in God and her faith was at the heart of who she was as a person. Mom was an avid reader - a book was never too far from her nightstand, she also was creative in creating picture collages of family and friends.
A Celebration of Life will take place at Calvary Temple, 400 Hargrave at 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 9 in the Buntain Chapel.

So sad to hear of the passing of our loving Aunt Betty. Although we didn't get to visit her a lot I will always remember how happy she was at Christmas time and her wedding to Henry. She never missed sending us a Christmas card. She had a great laugh and big simile for everyone. She can now be back with her brother Cliff and husband Henry in heaven. God only takes the best. We love and will miss you auntie. Our condolences to cousins and families. - Posted by: Steve Van Norman and family (Nephew) on: Aug 09, 2021

Very sad to hear of Betty’s passing. We took hair dressing together at Marvel & later shared a suite together. I do remember Todd but we lost touch over the years when she left Winnipeg. We shared a lot together. Sounds like she had a full life she will be missed ! - Posted by: Valerie Young. Nee - Richardson (Old friend & roommate ) on: Aug 08, 2021

I have many fond memories of Aunt Betty, as a young boy growing up in Winnipeg. She would babysit my four brothers and I, and was always the first one in for a wrestling (or tickling) match with us. She was never one to say no to a pillow fight! I will never forget her wonderful smile and joyful laugh. R.I.P. Aunty, I think about you a lot.
