It is with deep sadness and heartache that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved mother and grandmother, Valdomira Campos.
She was predeceased by her husband Antonio in April of this year. Left to cherish her memories are sons, Duarte (Maria), Antonio (Margaret), and Arthur (Leda); grandchildren, Sabrina, Catherine, Julianna, Matthew, Lukas, and Christian. Mom is also survived by her sisters and brothers, Genoveva, Fernanada, Augustinho, Venilde, Jose, Gilda, and Luisa, as well as her extended family in Manitoba, Ontario, Massachusetts, Florida, and the Azores. Mom was predeceased by her parents, Gil and Mariana, and brother David.
Mom was born in Sao Miguel, Azores and in 1966, she married dad. Together in 1973, they both immigrated to Canada with their three young sons to start their new chapter for a better life. Even though mom was busy with three young sons, she still found time to work for Bee-Clean for over 30 years creating many fond memories and lasting friendships.
When mom did have spare time on her hands, she enjoyed knitting, tending to her flower garden, and her almost daily shopping trips. Mom also enjoyed baking, which she did until the final day we had with her. We will cherish in our hearts the New Years' Day dinners mom hosted for many years with family and friends. Those who knew her will forever remember her laughter and humour.
The family would like to express their thanks and appreciation to her close friend Teresa, and neighbours Odette and Lina for the kindness and friendship they showed mom over the years.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, August 13 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Hungarian Church with limited seating. Live streaming is available at
Interment to follow at Assumption Cemetery, 3990 Portage Avenue with all welcome to attend.
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.

  • I met Val and her husband in 1992 at St. Anthony of Padua Hungarian Church. I am the Catechist Coordinator of said church and in all our activities they were very generous. Every time when they go on vacation to Portugal they always have beautiful religious gifts for me which I really treasure. Last March 2021 Val gave me most if not all her knitted shawls, scarf and even made beautiful throw blankets for me and my husband Rob which we really liked and use while watching TV. Late June of 2021 Val told me she wanted to buy a pitcher for holy water which she knew I have always wanted to buy for the church but our group collected $ was not enough. I said when covid restrictions are safe we will go together and buy one. She also wanted a Cabinet for the Monstrance to be put by the Fatima area. I said I will find someone to make it. I did not see her on a Saturday mass of July, Father said she attended mass on a Sunday instead. I wanted to tell her I found a man to build the cabinet and the following week I was told she passed. Prior to that we had a long talk over the phone she was telling me of how she wanted to stay in her house for as long as it takes even if she had to sleep on the couch if she cannot climb the stairs. I always do fundraising or garage sale at the church she said she had lots of stuff that her children are not interested. I said one day I will pick up what she does not need and sell it at the church or give it to church friends who may like it. When I was informed she passed I cannot believe because in my mind she was fine and we had so many things to do yet which was left undone. It is what it is, but am very sad that one of my favourite person at the church is gone and I will miss her terribly. The thought she is now with Anthony is also a relief because I feel her pain when he died. She lost weight and the sadness in her eyes when I see her at the church. In as much as I wanted to attend the funeral I know capacity is limited. I will continue to pray for her and she will always be in my heart. May Val Rest in Peace and condolences to the family. - Posted by: Evelyn Thordarson (Friend from St. Anthony‚Äôs Church) on: Aug 11, 2021
