DAWN-LEE PICHE

Dawn-Lee Piche gave her Disney ears a final bow on August 8, 2021. "A limb has fallen from the family tree, that says please don't grieve for me. Remember the best times, the laughter, the song (and) the good life I lived while I was strong".
Dawn was a fabulous and treasured mom to her sons, Leo and Sean. Her children were her greatest joy and achievement. They have grown into wonderful gentlemen whose intelligence, outlook and interests were so pleasing to Dawn. Her sons will continue to feel her presence and pride as they fulfill their dreams.
Dawn was a valued daughter, sister, friend, family member, soldier, sports fan, Disney lover, pet owner, dog behaviourist, entrepreneur, mentor, and travel enthusiast. Some admirable qualities include her independence, honesty, strength, helpfulness, resiliency, humour, bravery, and loyalty.
Huge thanks go to her care team including: her family members; Dr. Harris; Concordia and Grace CancerCare; and Riverview.
In lieu of flowers, as a tribute to Dawn, please spend time with your pets and enjoy a Disney movie.

Thanks for being our "special someone
to make ordinary moments
something to remember".

Your loved ones will keep your legacy and lessons close as we "wish upon a star".

  • Dawn was an amazing lady who helped me with my pup. Louie went to her daycare for five years and then we went for a private tutorial. She was an amazing person and had such a great bond with my pup Louie! I will always remember you with fondness. You were one awesome amazing lady. - Posted by: Diane Brandt (Client) on: May 16, 2023

  • She helped us plan the most perfect first cruise in winter 2019. I'm blessed to have known Dawn; she had a golden heart and a wonderful personality. I'm also blessed to have had the opportunity to pray with her earlier this year; she was filled with peace. Our heartfelt condolences to her sons. - Posted by: Juliet & Brian (Client) on: Sep 22, 2021

  • My heart is saddened tonight at the news of Dawn’s passing. She was an amazing woman, that filled so many roles, as Mother, Veteran, Dog Trainer, Business owner, Co-worker, and friend to many. Yet she made it look easy, often smiling her bright smile, making everyone feel at ease around her. Our paths crossed while working at WHS, and always found Dawn to be a very positive light, while working with the many dogs, that needed her expertise. Her hearty laugh, beautiful smile, compassion towards the dogs/staff, was endearing to many. I enjoyed our interactions back then, and considered her a friend. Skip forward a few years, a recent rescue we had adopted, was in need of the Canine Academy, I knew Wila needed Dawn to help her/us, with Wila’s newest fear related issue, and she was there giving of herself during her battle with cancer. Dawn, I know you with the Angels, keeping busy with all your dogs that once crossed your path at some point, making their life happier. You were a true Warrior against cancer, giving your all with grace, kindness, encouragement, and love. You will not be forgotten my friend, till we meet again ♥️ - Posted by: Pam Deacon (Co-worker, and friend) on: Sep 05, 2021

  • As Mufsa (from the Lion King), said, “Look at the stars. The great kings of the past look down on us from those stars... So whenever you feel alone, just remember that those kings will always be there to guide you.” There are people who are interesting and interested, who make the world a better place just by being in it, they just shine so bright. Dawn was one of those stars here on earth and now she’s a star in the sky to guide us. Lonnie and I and Yoda and Meeka will forever be grateful to have had you in our lives. We’re so sorry for all the pain you went through before your far too early passing. Anyone who knew Dawn even a little bit has a sense of how much we’ve all lost. Our deepest sympathies to Leo and Sean and all Dawn’s family and friends. 💔 - Posted by: Michelle Smetana (Friend) on: Aug 26, 2021

  • Our deepest sympathy to Dawn's family. Dawn and her sister were my son's baseball coaches. She was a great influence on the team and on my son Aaron. We have fond memories of Dawn and the baseball team that will be forever cherished. The Pineault Family - Posted by: Aaron Pineault (friend) on: Aug 24, 2021

  • I was so sad to hear of Dawn's passing, yet immediately thought of all the amazing things she did in her life that she should be so proud of. She lived her short life with all the gusto, bravery & joy that many of us wish we could fathom in 1 year, let alone an entire life. Even though I didn't know her very well, she had a gift of giving everyone a glimpse into her life through facebook, and she offered me a lot of business advice whenever I needed it. She will be missed in so many ways. Rest easy Dawn, knowing that you left your boys with a lifetime of wonderful memories. - Posted by: Lee (friend) on: Aug 20, 2021

  • Sorry to hear of Dawn's passing. She was a dog friend, trainer and client who I always enjoyed a great conversation with about our dogs or dogs in general. Her strength and positive outlook on life was inspiring. May she RIP and I will hug my dogs a little extra tonight. Condolences to her children, family and close friends. - Posted by: Carrie Frobisher (Friend) on: Aug 18, 2021

  • My heartfelt condolences to Sean and Leo and family. I met Dawn many years ago at WHS as a behaviourist, then at Canada's Canine Academy when I brought my Akitas Vegas and Bristol for puppy training. You came to my 'dog' rescue more than once - and between WHS and CCA, I have learned a lifetime from you. One of the funniest memories I have was when we were 'clicker training' our partners in a group training session. I think of you often and the impact you've had on my life (and my dogs). I'll miss your million dollar smile friend. Love and Hugs. - Posted by: Tracy Wayne (Friend) on: Aug 17, 2021

  • Hearing of Dawn’s death via a friend came as a shock. Years ago a group of us took our dogs to Dawn for ‘working playtimes’. It was such a good experience that I planned to go with our youngest dog for a refresher course of “owner education” as things opened up again. Watching her work and learning from her helped our first ‘big’ dog train me! My condolences to her family on their loss. - Posted by: Jan Christianson-Wood (Beneficiary of Dawn’s dog training) on: Aug 15, 2021

  • I met Dawn shortly after basic training back in 1990. To say we hit it off would be an understatement. She loved her Winnipeg Jets and I was a Habs fan (at the time). She was so full of life and tenderness. She was driven to success right from the start. Years later we got to talk again on facebook and in person at the Ottawa airport where I had the honour of meeting her sons. In a testament to her parenting, I was impressed by their intelligence, politeness, and good humour. She told me the thing she was most proud of was her boys. Next was her time in the military. She was proud of being a veteran and proud of her fellow veterans. Dawn was someone that you don't forget. Even meeting her once for just a few minutes would make you a better person. She loved Disney, dogs, movies and cruises and her friends. I am greatly saddened by her loss but am glad she is no longer in pain. Leo & Sean, my deepest sympathies on your loss. My deepest condolences to the whole family. Dawn, you will be missed. - Posted by: Sgt. Frank MacDougall, CD, retired (Friend and fellow veteran) on: Aug 14, 2021

  • Leo and Sean, so sorry for the loss of your Mom. She was very strong and determined with her fight over the last six years. I am sure you already know she was very proud of both of you. My most sincerest condolence to you boys and the entire family. We have truly lost a very special person. Love and big hugs from Wendy, Amy, Alyssa and Kaiden. - Posted by: Wendy Piche (Niece) on: Aug 14, 2021

  • So sorry for your mom having to move on, Leo and Shawn. However I can’t imagine how many wagging tails were waiting for her :) ! Your mom was amazing and gave so many pups the best life by teaching their humans how to understand them, keep them safe and happy for life. Not my first memory of your mom but when I found this black and white furry thing years ago I quickly dialled her number! She came over in a flash to greet this puppy who could not possibly control herself. Within minutes of entering my home that little fluff ball was quiet and watching your moms every move. I should add; all this was done without your mom saying a word!! When she left our home, that pup stood at the door quietly: I’m sure dreading being stuck with me and wanting to be with someone who actually understood her. I do know one of the biggest fans to meet her would have been our girl! So fortunate to have had your mom in our lives. 🤗 - Posted by: Lisa (Friend) on: Aug 14, 2021
