ELIZABETH FRANCES TOKARCHUK
Betty was predeceased by her husband Michael Tokarchuk. She is survived by her daughters, Pat Sayer (Jack), Linda Rosnoski (Neil Foyle), Kathy Atkins (Ron); and her son Jim Tokarchuk (Joanna Knowlton). She is also survived by seven grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
Betty was born in Silverton, Manitoba on June 13, 1926. As a young woman, she moved to Winnipeg, where she met and married the love of her life, Mike Tokarchuk. They started their lives together in St. Boniface, and later moved to St. James in 1960, where Betty and Mike lived for the rest of their lives.
Betty was fortunate to have many joys in her life. By far the greatest was her family. She was a hockey mom, figuring skating mom and all-round supporter of everything her children did. She loved nothing more than a large family gathering, (and they were always large) at Christmas, Easter, any statutory holiday or her birthday celebrations at Clear Lake.
After her family, Betty's second greatest joy was the cottage she and Mike shared at Silver Beach, Manitoba. They spent many happy years there with their best friends, Grace and Jack Wilson and family, fishing, playing cards, enjoying the wonders of nature, and generally making merry.
Her third greatest joy was the Winnipeg Jets. She knew every player, which ones she liked and which she didn't and knew more about the game than most. Go Jets!
Betty spent the latter 24 years of her life at Colorado Estates in Winnipeg, where she had many friends and happy times. She particularly loved (and excelled at) her painting classes and her casino excursions with her friend, Anna. Like everyone who goes to casinos, she always broke even.
Betty was blessed with 94 wonderful years. Sadly, the last 18 months of her life were plagued by ill health. The last few months of her life were spent at Tuxedo Villa Personal Care Home. The family would like to thank the staff there and the homecare workers who came to Colorado Estates, for their kindness and care for Betty. You truly are heroes!
