MURIEL ANN PERRY
(nee GULLIKSON)
April 4, 1935 – October 24, 2021

With her family by her side, Muriel passed away after a brief illness.
She was predeceased by Donald (Don), her husband of 45 years, and survived by children, Janine, Robert (Rachel), and Jill (Jim), grandchildren, Amanda (Jordan), Sharla (Danny) and Dylan, and great-grandchildren, JJ and Stevie. Muriel will sadly miss the birth of granddaughter Sharla's first child which was something she had hoped to see.
Muriel was the daughter of Anna and Gustave, Swedish immigrants who raised seven children: Iva, Doreen, Oscar, Marion, Ralph and Donnie (all predeceased). Muriel was born in Inwood, Manitoba but moved to Winnipeg to raise her family after returning home from overseas where she and Don spent the early years of their marriage. Later in life, Muriel moved to Selkirk to be closer to her family and friends. Muriel loved her family more than anything else. She was especially close to her sisters and spent countless hours talking to them on the phone. She had many nieces and nephews that she loved and cared for like they were her own.
Muriel was known for her baking and always had goodies on hand to feed her many visitors, but mostly for her son Robert who visited on an almost daily basis to get his fix. She enjoyed watching sports, listening to music and going for drives in the country with best friend and daughter Janine, and she was an expert at crossword puzzles a passion she passed on to her youngest daughter Jill.
Muriel was one of the Blue Bombers biggest fans. As a long time season ticket holder, she rarely missed a game and her presence in the stands will surely be missed. The Bombers came through for her in the last game she watched winning 45-0.
The family will not be holding a funeral, instead a Celebration of Life will be held in the Spring at which time she will be reunited with her beloved Don at the Norris Lake Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to the Make a Wish Foundation.
The family wishes to thank the Selkirk Regional Hospital, Home and Palliative Care staff for making her wishes of going home to be with family come true.
