JOSEPH (JOSEF) MARCEL KUBINEC
Left to mark his passing are his mother Jeanne; siblings, Mark (Bonnie), Gary (Linda), Chris (Laura), Greg (Angel), Francine (Ray), Michael (Linda-Rose); aunts, Marlene Kubinec, Lorraine Harmer, Audrey Langen and Dorene Krystalowich; uncle Bruce Lajat, and many cousins, nephews and nieces. He also leaves to mourn his partner Susan Hubbard and her family. He was predeceased by his father Frank; aunt and uncle Florence and Jim Milne; uncles, Dick Harmer, Elis Langen and Peter Krystalowich.
Joe was always an active participant in life and especially loved sports, excelling in hockey in the junior and senior levels in Saint Boniface, and for many years beyond he played recreationally and refereed. He graduated from the University of Manitoba becoming a well-known and respected sports physiotherapist here in Winnipeg as well as BC and Nova Scotia. He trained with local dance companies to learn how to treat their injuries. Joe's love of adventure, travel and golf took him around the world and he continued to learn and share. He trained in Edmonton then travelled to Beijing to work in a free clinic to become proficient in acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine. He helped an elephant at the Edmonton zoo stand again on a bad knee, and used acupuncture to help couples with fertility issues with many successes.
Joe passed away October 8, 2021 in hospital at Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, with Susan and his brother Chris by his side.
Cremation has taken place. A funeral service has been held and can be viewed at Sweeny's Funeral Home, Yarmouth.
