Condolences & Memories (3 entries)
40 Plus years later I still have fond memories of Mr. Harvey Purvis, who I first encountered as fellow employees at the great CKLQ RADIO 1570 in Westman. Some tremendous stories, particularly of other unique employees of the era - Dennis "The Menace" Guerin, Ted Pechey, Al Ross, Bill Turner & Jerry "The King" Agar. Harvey was a gregarious & effective salesman and sales manager who rarely uttered negative words (rare in the world of radio). I remember well Harvey enabling me to initiate coverage of The Westman Super League of Curling which led to Westman's first play by play curling broadcasts from Brandon and afar. In retrospect I wonder if Leslie Nielsen (the great canadian actor) was still alive whether he'd be tasked with playing Mr. Purvis - or more likely Harvey would have played Leslie Nielsen. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Purvis families. Harvey was simply an amazing man! One of the most friendliest, helpful and high energy people we knew. A successful businessman who raised a great family and supported his community. Rest in peace Harvey.
