Condolences & Memories (7 entries)
Sincere prayers to your family, Dympna and the children. - Posted by: Sophie P. (Friend) on: Dec 12, 2021
Dear Cortens Family all, My deep condolences to all of you on the passing of John. I will always remember his jaunty walk, his flute ever at the ready, his smile, his laugh, his fingers drumming the desk or fluttering above the buzzer. With many memories of good times on trips from Dryden to Winnipeg for tournaments and around NWO for games, music making in the Cortens' basement, especially with the Moog synthesize, I hold John and all of you in my heart. Warmly, Kathryn Humphrey - Posted by: Kathryn Humphrey (School friend, Reach For The Top teammate) on: Dec 02, 2021
As a Prolife friend of Rita from years back, I had met your Dad when they visited Australia. I met you Dympna, briefly, but I never had the privilege of meeting John. However I feel I know you all much more because of Rita's wonderful communicating. I send you my deep hearfelt sympathy, including and especially for your precious children. May Our Lord have mercy on John and grant you all consolation that only can come from our Loving Mother Mary who herself had known such sorrow in her life. With love, Treasa, NSW, Australia. - Posted by: Treasa van Ommen Kloeke (Family friend ) on: Dec 02, 2021
Long ago, when our families lived on Ashburn Street, I was the babysitter. I remember Johnny as the sweetest little boy. My father nicknamed him Johnny Appleseed. As soon as I saw the obituary photo, I recognized Johnny's grin. My deepest sympathy to his family, and may he rest in peace. - Posted by: Anna Tenosky (long ago neighbour and babysitter) on: Nov 30, 2021

No-one can really understand how deeply your loss is felt. We can only send our love, prayers and sympathy. We will remember John as a passionate Catholic, ready to do anything for the church and his family. May his soul rest in peace. - Posted by: Maria Slykerman (Friend) on: Nov 30, 2021
