AGNES SWERDYLIAK
May 8, 1939 - December 10, 2021

It was with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our mother into the arms of the loving Father on December 10, 2021 at the age of 82.
Agnes was predeceased by her husband Steve (2001), her parents, her brothers, Pierre (Pete), Jacques, and George and her sister Marie. Agnes is survived by her sons, John, Vincent (Eileen Street), Dan, Donald (Kim Williams) and daughter Stephanie, grandsons, Tyler, Derek, and Mason, her brothers, Roger, Paul, and John, sisters, Louise, Jeanine, Therese, and Lucy, and numerous nieces and nephews. Agnes was blessed with three grandchildren after son Vincent and Eileen (Street) married: Tyler (1992), Derek (1993) and Mason (1998). She was proud of them and their accomplishments.
Agnes grew up in Grande Clairiere and was one of 12 children born to Clement and Cecile (Cancade) Bodin. Agnes attended school in Grande Clairiere followed by nursing school in St. Boniface where she graduated as an LPN. She was working in the maternity ward at St. Boniface Hospital when she met and married Stephen (Steve) Swerdyliak in November 1963. They made their home in the Grande Pointe area and farmed for many years, raising livestock and growing vegetables and grain. She was blessed with the birth of four children, John, Vincent, Stephanie and Danny, and son by choice, Donald Schewaga. She worked hard to build a loving home filled with laughter, food, and strong family ties.
Agnes had many passions. She loved to travel and have epic adventures with her sister Lucy, and daughter Stephanie. Her flower gardens were filled with color and many, many trees. Curling was her sport of choice and often could find her and Steve at the rink throwing rocks or visiting with neighbours. She loved to cook and bake for family occasions. Her shortbread was amazing.
Thank you to all the staff at Beacon Hill Lodge for her wonderful care.
In lieu of flowers, please send a monetary donation to the Canadian Cancer Society.
Memorial service will take place at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd.
