LESLIE LYNNE WOZNY
(nee SHEPHERD)
December 14, 1945 – December 11, 2021

Leslie passed away peacefully at the Heritage Life Personal Care Home in Niverville, Manitoba on the morning of December 11, 2021, at the age of 75.
Leslie is survived by her beloved husband of 56 years, Bert; her children, David (Colleen) Wozny, Darren (Cheryl) Wozny and Beverlee Huys; as well as her grandchildren, Lisa, Brandi-Lee and Brianna Huys. She was also very close with her mother Norma, who was always there for everyone.
Leslie was born and raised in the Charleswood area of Winnipeg. She taught piano lessons for many years. She was creative and enjoyed many types of crafts including macrame, ceramics and knitting. She was also a fitness enthusiast in her 40s and 50s, she remained an active person even in her later years. Although born and raised in Winnipeg, Leslie enjoyed many great years living in Grosse Isle and Sanford, Manitoba. She enjoyed many great summers at Royal Lake, Ontario, camping trips with her family, as well as cherished her relationships with friends and enjoyed many fun shopping weekends with them in North Dakota.
Leslie loved her family very much. She was a dedicated mother to her three children and once they were older, she obtained her Medical Secretary diploma and entered the workforce. She was very passionate about her work supporting the psychiatrists at Victoria General Hospital. Leslie always had a soft spot for people and animals in need. She was very generous with her time and helped with various hampers, charities and had foster children abroad. She also spent many hours reading with a scented candle lit and her beloved cats and dog Rebel by her side. Bert and Leslie were best friends and even in her later years, when speech became difficult for her and her memories faded away, the one constant was that she was always asking about Bert.
In lieu of flowers, a donation in her name to an animal charity or rescue of your choice would be very much appreciated. The family would also like to give thanks to the wonderful staff at Heritage Life Personal Care Home for the loving care they gave Leslie.
As per Leslie's wishes, cremation has taken place. A private memorial and interment will be planned for the summer of 2022.

  • Leslie was a very important part of my life for many years. We had a long relationship working together but much more important was the personal relationship we shared. We became involved in each other’s family lives and shared both good and bad times. Leslie was always supportive of me and her kind heart was shared with so many. With her failing health and my moving to Toronto 10 years ago we weren’t able to visit but her devoted husband kept me up to date. They shared a wonderful relationship and I hope Bert is comforted by many good memories of their life together. Let her memory serve as a blessing.
