It is with deep sadness that the family announces the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother Barbara Ceh (nee Rajtar) on January 8, 2022 at the age of 89 at Health Sciences Centre.
Barbara was born in Slovenia, September 22, 1932. She came to Canada in 1957 where she started her family.
Barbara was predeceased by her son Tony Ceh; sisters, Vera, Marija, Kristina; her brother Ivan, and mother Anna. Barbara is survived by her loving daughter Maria (Frank) and son Marjan; two grandchildren, Amanda (David) and Melissa (Cameron); and two great-grandchildren, Esme and Theodore. Barbara's life is also celebrated by her sister in Slovenia, nephews, nieces, and cherished friends.
Barbara enjoyed cooking and baking for family and friends and taking care of her rose garden. Barbara loved going to church, singing, and she was always happiest when surrounded by her family. Barbara always put her family and others before herself.
Due to restrictions a family service will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 95 MacDonald Ave, on Friday, January 14, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. with burial at Brookside Cemetery.
We would like to thank the staff at unit GH6, Health Sciences Centre for their care and compassion.
In lieu of flowers, donation may be made in Barbara's memory to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)
My deepest condolences to you Maria and the whole family. Your mother was a good friend to our family and in their younger years the ladies got together for afternoon coffee exchanging stories about their families. May she Rest In Peace. Our deepest condolences to you Micka and your family! There will definitely be a void in the community/church without your mother sitting in one of the front pews , we could always hear her joyously singing to the church hymns. I will also miss conversing downstairs at one of our many coffees in the church hall. She was always there to drive one of the ladies to church and she always had a packed car, taking care of everyone! She had a good heart! Hugs and kisses! Irene, Bernie and Melania Lozar. - Posted by: Irene Lozar (Friend) on: Jan 17, 2022
Hello Micka: We were very sad to hear about your mother's passing. I will miss her smile and her stream of jokes. She always reminded me that to be happy you have to include a laugh in your life! Your mom always had a story for me when we used to meet downstairs in the church basement for coffee. It was fun to speak to each other in Prek Murski - I always felt at home when talking with your mom. May the memories and good times with your mother give you and your family peace and comfort.
