Dear Lord,
Please accept my application for Eternal Life. My resumé is as follows:
Objectives: To be honest and compassionate; to treat everyone with respect; to demonstrate integrity in all I do, and to live as independently as possible, as long as possible.
References:
I was born in Fannystelle to loving parents, Eugenie (Painchaud) and Alfred Hamel, who already had six other children: Aime (Juliette), Blanche (Peter), John (Gladys), Vincent (aka Bill) (Mae), Martin and Flore (Hjalmer). They, along with my nephew Guy, and my husband John are already with you in Heaven and can provide references for me.
I have left my daughter Michelle, her husband Perry, my granddaughter Kali, my sister-in-law Simone and many nieces and nephews on earth, as there are no openings for them in Heaven just yet.
Training:
I completed my elementary education in Fannystelle, and high school at St. Mary's Academy, as a boarder. I went on to obtain my teaching certificate at Normal School and began my career working with children in 1948; first in Swan Lake, then in Tyndall. It was there that I met the love of my life, John, and we were married in June 1951. Our one and only daughter, Michelle was born 11 years later.
Experience:
We settled in Winnipeg, where I held teaching positions in Tuxedo, River Heights, then Aberdeen, Sargent Park, Earl Grey and La Verendrye. Lord, you know that I never had any "teacher's pets", for gifted children already have a greater chance of success. Rather, I put my heart into teaching those with learning challenges, or difficult family situations. It was here that I feel I did my best work.
Volunteer Work:
Throughout my life, I volunteered at St. Ignatius Parish as well as with the Manitoba Music Festival. After retiring, I continued to volunteer with children who needed extra help and was known as "Aunty Bea" in St. Ignatius and Rockwood, as well as Central Middle School in Weslaco Texas.
When it was discovered that our granddaughter had an intellectual disability, I redirected my efforts to educating myself about her diagnosis, so I could support her in achieving her goals. I loved to cheer her on at soccer games and curling and travelled out of province to watch her synchronized swimming competitions. Our "penny walks" and rides on the Prairie Dog Central are treasured memories. And Lord, she taught me more about what is important in life than I ever taught her.
Hobbies:
Over the years, I cared for many fur babies, including Bozo, Bimbo, and Bijou I and II. I was grandma to Nanuq and great-grandma to Epi.
I loved to travel and made trips to Hawaii, Alaska, Florida, and California with my family. John and I were "Winter Texans" for over 10 years and enjoyed socializing with friends and family in Magic Valley.
In addition, I knitted scarves for underprivileged children and Prayer shawls for the sick and dying. I loved to read and continued to do so until my eyesight gave out. My body began to fail me as well, but Lord, I know that when You close a door, You open a window. That window was my opportunity to attend the Charleswood Day Program and Riverview Day Hospital, where I met and made many new friends.
Additional Information:
At last, I had to face my greatest fear the loss of my independence - and in February, 2021, I moved to Tuxedo Villa Personal Care Home. Thankfully, I had an amazing group of caregivers on Station 2, who kept me safe from COVID-19, as it ravaged the facility and the world. I would ask You to bless all the staff on Station 2, Lord, especially "Windex", Rosie, Barry, and Bryce, as they made sure my last days were as peaceful and comfortable as possible.
Lord, I hope that you will find that I have met my Objectives and deserve a place in Your heavenly home. You know where to find me to further discuss my qualifications.
To my friends and family still on Earth, please consider a donation to one of my favourite charities, so they can continue helping those I cherish: Children's Wish Foundation, Special Olympics Manitoba, Manitoba Harvest, or the Winnipeg Humane Society.
The Mass of the Resurrection will be held at St. Ignatius Parish at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, February, 19, 2022. A private interment of her cremains will be held at a later date.

Dear Family: What an inspiration to read Beatrice Fediuk's extraordinary obituary written by daughter, Michelle Samagalski! So sorry for the loss of your gracious and very considerate Mother. Know that as a teacher, your Mother transformed children's lives. I am so grateful that Mrs. Fediuk was my first school teacher, at the older Aberdeen School on Stella Avenue, in Winnipeg's North End. Mrs. Fediuk was one of a faculty of excellent teachers at the old Aberdeen School in WSD, in the early 60's. Her daily read-alouds of quality literature were marvelous. With her demonstrated love of reading, she encouraged us to become strong readers. Mrs. Fediuk also created a welcoming early childhood classroom enriched with students' art and projects. She made each person feel special as a unique learner and positive about learning. She had a way of affirming our strengths, to cope and overcome our areas of challenge. We felt like we were important members of a wonderful, welcoming and respectful classroom community that she created for us all. Mrs. Fediuk was an exceptional but humble role model, in diverse ways. She truly inspired me to work hard, never give up and overcome my challenges. She was the type of teacher who fostered North End resilience in her students. She honoured my early desire to be a teacher. She encouraged me to keep thinking about becoming a teacher, one day, if I worked very hard and continued to try my best. Thanks to the wonderful foundation in literacy that Mrs. Fediuk provided, I was inspired by exemplary teachers like her. I would go on to become a classroom and resource teacher, reading clinician and provincial ELA consultant. She was also very supportive to my Mother and gave her suggestions for parental involvement. Upon reflection, I believe Mrs. Fediuk was among the most memorable elementary teachers I have known in my forty-five years of teaching. She transformed our lives as she launched us as inner city children, for lifelong learning and positive citizenship in our communities. Beatrice has met the many criteria of entry and truly earned her place in Heaven, by her truly exemplary life! May the servant of God Beatrice, rest in peace! May her Memory be Eternal! With sincere sympathy, Carol Hryniuk-Adamov M. Ed. A very grateful student of Mrs. Fediuk - Posted by: Marianna Carol Hryniuk-Adamov (former kindergarten student) on: Feb 24, 2022

Mrs. Fediuk was my Grade 1 Teacher at Aberdeen, I believe it was 1961. I could not wait to go to school and Mrs Fediuk did not disappoint! She was lovely, caring and inclusive, could not have a better experience. Truly, I have thought of her many times over the years. Enjoyed her resume for Eternal Life, I’m sure it was accepted! Condolences to the family. - Posted by: Kris Pikta Thompson (Student) on: Feb 23, 2022

John and Bea were the best neighbours anyone could imagine getting when buying their first home. For nine years they were always there for me with gardening tips, fresh produce, recipes (many of which are still used today), and cutting grass or shoveling snow. Thank you Michelle for this tribute to your mother and my condolences to you, Kali and Perry. - Posted by: Marlene Waldron (Neighbour from Mulvey Ave.) on: Feb 23, 2022

What an amazing humble woman. I am sure she was taken for granted on many occasions but God will certainly not take her for granted. What a lovely tribute to an amazing yet relatable individual. Congratulations to the author. I feel like I knew her. - Posted by: Donna M Butcher (None) on: Feb 23, 2022

I did not know Beatrice personally, and until I came across the story written about her Obituary, I wasn't aware that such a warm and wonderful woman was part of this world. I pray Beatrice is happy in her eternal Home with her love, John. I am positive Jesus personally walked her to meet GOD at the throne. Beatrice sounds like the Christian I strive to be and when it's time for me to go Home as well, I will be honored to meet her. My prayers are with her family. May GOD keep them in His comforting arms. - Posted by: Susan K Snyder (Sister in Christ) on: Feb 22, 2022

Bea and John were our next door neighbors when we bought our first home on Mulvey Avenue back in 1981. Bea was a kind and friendly neighbor to us newbies. If we needed any advice or help, she and John were right there with a word of encouragement or an offer of assistance. She shared the results of her gardening, canning and pickling with us every year, something we really looked forward to. We didn't realize how accomplished she was, or how much time she gave of herself to others. She always had time for a chat over the fence. She laughed easily and often, and had a quick sense of humor. We were so fortunate to have had her for a neighbor. We would like to extend our deepest condolences to Michelle and family. - Posted by: Ron and Tracey Olafson (Neighbors from Mulvey) on: Feb 19, 2022
