It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Alphonse, our beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather. Dad passed away peacefully at home, at the age of 94. He is now reunited with his loving wife of 69 years, Isabelle (née Lansard).
Dad was born in Inwood, MB and moved to Winnipeg as a young man to start a career in plastering. He met mom, married, and raised their family of seven children and lived in several communities in MB, Richer, Ste. Anne, St. Boniface, Winnipeg.
He started his own contracting company, A. Dupont Plastering. Over the years he became a master plasterer. Some of his skills, became a specialty and were in demand for restoration of hand-carved ceilings and mouldings at the Manitoba Legislature and many other historical buildings in Winnipeg.
Alphonse was a kind and generous man always willing to help where he could. He had a passion for motorhomes and loved to travel to our many lakes for camping and fishing with Mom, friends and family. Later, for twenty years, Dad and Mom would travel to their cabin in Richer spending their days gardening, playing cards and entertaining family. He also enjoyed bowling in a league for many years, watching wrestling, and listening to country music.
We all enjoyed so many good times with Mom and Dad at our family parties celebrating birthdays and anniversaries and, Dad, we will really miss your beautiful smile and your sense of humour.
Dad will be sadly missed by his children, Pauline (George Hickes), Angèle Fontaine (Guy), Gérald (Irene Gauthier), Laurent (Marilyn), Monique Kisil (Rick), Michel (Donna Gomien), Rachel Laurin (Wayne); and his grandchildren, Lisa, George, Serena, Brad, Darren, Gisèle, Paul, Denis, Melanie, Livia, Jag, Jason, Corey, Jeremy, Brittany, Adam, Leanne, Chrystal, Julien; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Alphonse is also survived by his in-laws, Liliane, Fernande, Betty, Marcel Orieux, Anna Hébert, Blandine (Bea) Patry, Marie-Paule Fiola, Laurent Lamontagne.
Alphonse was predeceased by his wife of 69 years, Isabelle in 2019, grandson Jason Dupont in 2019, great-granddaughter Sophie Grace in 2018; his parents, Hormidas and Angèle (née Compayré); brothers, Joseph, Barthelemy and Cecile, Louis, Steve; and sisters, Jacqueline and Alphonse Pitre and Angeline and Alphonse Mondor; and nieces and nephews.
Alphonse was also predeceased by in-laws, Jean-Marie and Béatrice Lansard, Isidore, Jean-Paul and Jospéhine, Eugène, Adrienne and Raymond Sutherland, Léo and Lucille, Clémence (Phil), Jean-Marie Hébert, Gérard Patry, Ferdinand, André, Claire, Rose-Marie and Roger Lussier.
Due to current COVID-19 restrictions, a private family memorial service will take place.
In memory of Alphonse, donations may be made to Heart & Stroke Foundation Manitoba, 1379 Kenaston Boulevard, Winnipeg, MB R3T 2P5.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the staff at Centre de Santé St. Boniface, Home Care and Palliative Care for the guidance and excellent care given to our father.

Bonsoir, bonne nuit, à demain,
"We love you Dad"
