ROBERT (BOB) BOHEMIER

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Robert (Bob) Bohemier, on March 6, 2022, age 85, of Winnipeg, Manitoba. After a brief illness, Bob passed away peacefully at his daughter's home with his family by his side.
Dad grew up in St. Norbert, Manitoba and was the 14th of 15 children. He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Rose, 13 of his siblings, son Jeffrey who passed at the age of seven, as well as his wife of 47 years, Geraldine Katherine Bohemier. He is survived by his long-time partner Gail Stephenson, sole sibling Louise Forrest, daughters, Pauline Harty, Christine Jones (Brad), and Lori Wood, as well as grandchildren, Destiny Bohemier (Ray), Autumn Bohemier, Leah Jones, Nicholas Jones, Albert Desrosiers, Patrick Desrosiers, Colette Romans (Mike), Sarah Fontaine, Zach Fontaine, Lucas Wood, Michaella Wood, and great- grandchildren, Benjamin Bohemier and Joey Romans, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Dad worked at a variety of jobs during his lifetime starting with construction and working as a boiler maker. These jobs often meant travelling which allowed him to enjoy seeing different parts of North America and meeting new people which he loved to do. In his later years, Dad made a career working real estate, then eventually constructing and selling steel buildings. He enjoyed this line of work and always had a story to share about the houses he sold, secretly owned or buildings he designed.
Dad was a very social person. After 60 years of forming relationships through various jobs, it wasn't often that he would go somewhere without running into a familiar face. Many times, a 10 minute trip to the store would turn into hours as he would inevitably meet someone he knew and end up chatting or going for coffee. As well, Dad was always willing to lend a helping hand and assist others when he could. Another social aspect he loved was dancing which he did right up until the pandemic hit. He and his partner Gail would go to Rockwood Legion almost every weekend for the live bands and great socializing.
Dad was a frugal man who loved to putter. He constantly challenged himself and took pride in being able to create things from scrap material and at little cost. During the last few years of his life, he began building bird houses, and different sculptures both for his yard and to give as gifts to family and friends. Often these objects were built with unconventional items and always were a great point of interest due to their unique construction and sometimes strange appearance.
A fun-loving person, Dad was always ready with a joke or two and was a great storyteller. He would often go on about silly things he had done as a child or pranks he played on people over his years. You never knew what to expect when in public with him as he had a way of attracting attention whether intentional or not. Somehow trouble and mischief regularly found him (or maybe he found it) and he was amused by every minute of it.
A man of great integrity, honour and dignity, his family believes that his greatest accomplishment was being a father, grandfather, great-grandfather, partner and friend. Dad... there is an emptiness inside without you here and it will be hard to learn to live without you. We love you, and you will forever be missed.
Full funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 23, 2022 for 11:30 a.m. at Christ the King Church, 847 St. Mary's Road in St. Vital. There will be an interment following at St. Vital Cemetery with a gathering back at the church afterwards.
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to St. Amant Centre.
